Gilbert Funeral Home Website Also in Southern Illinoisan Mar 26, 2015 Obituary for John James Barclay John James "Jim" Barclay, 78, died Tuesday, March 24, 2015, in Franklin Hospital in Benton. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 27, in Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher. Burial will be in Osage Cemetery in Royalton. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Barclay served 16 years as a police officer and chief of police in Christopher. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Combat Engineering Group and a member of First Christian Church in Christopher. He was born Jan. 18, 1937, in Royalton to William and Geneva "Jenette" (Ebbs) Barclay. He married Margene (Overturf) Barclay on June 30, 1962, and she survives. Other survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Danny Loucks of Waltonville; grandchildren, Dani-Lyn and Travis Hill of Woodriver, Jonathan Loucks of Chicago and Adrieanne Loucks and Isaiah Loucks, both of Waltonville; siblings, Margaret (Marge) Swaringen of Wright City, Missouri, Anita Walker of Denham Springs, Louisiana, Susan Pantkey of Commerce Township, Michigan,Sharon (Kitty) Loeh of Villa Grove, Janet Carrillo of Tucson, Arizona, and David Barclay of Richland, Montana; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Alex, William Jr and Dale Barclay.
