    3. The Ottumwa Courier, Ottumwa, IA Mar 23, 2015 (Photo) OTTUMWA - Mary I. Harriss, 90, of 173 E. Rochester went to be with her Lord at 10:35 p.m. March 20, 2015 at Hospice House. She was born March 4, 1925 in Franklin County, IL to William E. and Mary I. Whitlow Kirkpatrick. She married Cornelius "Neil" Harriss July 25, 1945. A graduate of Goode Barron Township High School, Mary had been a resident of Ottumwa since 1960. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church. She was secretary at Evans Junior High and the Ottumwa Community Schools Board Office, retiring in 1985. She enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved her Lord. Surviving are her husband, Neil; two sons, James E. (Carla) Harriss of Peosta, IA and John C. (Linda) Harriss of Lansing, KS; three grandchildren, Carrie (Joel) Hart of Hampton, GA, Kyle (Melissa) Harriss of Lansing, KS and Elizabeth (Don) Lewis of Ankeny; three great -grandchildren, Zachary, Natalie and David Hart and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Leo, John, Glen, Roy and Edward Kirkpatrick; three sisters, Syble Heiple, Irene Sample and Margaret Kirkpatrick. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Matthews officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Visitation begins after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bible Baptist Church or Hospice House, 927 Pennsylvania Ave., Ottumwa, IA 52501. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation for the caregivers at Prairie Hills and Hospice serving Wapello & Davis Counties.
