| Ernest “Paul” West passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2015 surrounded by his loved ones. Paul was born the youngest of five children on March 4, 1943 in Cairo, Illinois to Loyie Elvis and Flossie Mae Lessar West. Paul married Brenda Kay Jones on March 6, 1965 in South Elgin, Illinois.  Paul had two sons, Curtis and Joshua. Throughout the 1960s and mid ‘70s, Paul was one of the foremost fast-pitch softball pitchers in Illinois.  He was sought by teams throughout the state.  He was also an avid fisherman and enjoyed shooting. Paul is survived by his wife, Brenda; his two sons Curtis (Terri) West, Joshua (Valerie) West; six grandchildren: Helen, Audra, Andrew, Noah, Nathan, and JoshLynn.  His is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Awaiting Paul in Heaven, were his parents, Loyie and Flossie; sisters, Reba (Jesse) White, Betty (David) Hutchison; brothers, Dean (Geraldine) West, and Charles West; nephew, Kenny Miller. Graveside services will be held at 1:00p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at St. John’s Cemetery in Dongola, Illinois with Brother Mike Cash officiating.  There will be no visitation.  Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery prior to the funeral service.  Union Funeral Home – West Frankfort, Illinois is in charge of arrangements.  | | | Increase
