Barbara J. Summers, 68, of Peoria Heights died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015, in Peoria.Barbara was born in Omaha, Neb., to James Elvis and Betty (White) Presler, and she was raised by her foster parents, Cleo and Ruth Johnson. Barbara married Harley T. Summers on June 5, 1965, in Benton, Ill., and he survives.She is also survived by her father, James; her children, Karen (Yule) Echo of Sparks, Nev., Barry Summers of West Frankfort, Larry Summers of Jacksonville, Fla., Michael Summers of Peoria Heights and Barbie Kay Summers of Sullivan; her siblings, Carol Buchanan of West Frankfort, James Presler of East Peoria and Dixie of Carterville; her grandchildren, Britni Morgan, Rayme, Haley and Samantha Hornbuckle and nine more grandchildren; her niece, Becky Jo Ferandio; and many more nieces and nephews.Barbara was preceded in death by her mother and both of her foster parents.She loved crocheting and knitting. Barbara never met a stranger and she knew everyone.Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015, at The Wilton Mortuary, with the Rev. Howard Love officiating. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at the mortuary. Cremation rites will be accorded.
