Found this interesting tidbit about Lucretia Powel (Grimes) Rich Highsmith from 1968 newspaper article. Wish I could find her obituary. She died 18 Dec 1908 Mt. Vernon Register-News Wednesday, June 12, 1968 Former Resident Honors Ancestor Daniel Boone On memorial Day in the Hall of Fame at New York University Campus, Henry Maurice Shafer of Plainfield, New Jersey, formerly of Texico, participated in laying a wreath at the bust of Daniel Boone. Mr. Shafer is a Boone family descnedant. Many wreaths were donated from Daniel Boone Societies around the United States. Mr. Shafer is related to Daniel Boone through his grandmother, Lucretia Powell Grimes Highsmith, who was a direct descendant of Daniel Boone's sister.
