SAMUEL LEE LIND Johnston City–Samuel Lee Lind, 80 of Johnston City passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at 5:20 A.M. at the Community Living Center at the V.A. Hospital in Marion. Samuel was born on August 24, 1934 in Stonefort. He was the son of Henry and Grace (Wall) Lind. He first married Cynthia Born. He later married Helen (Sutt) on February 8, 1958 in Geneva. He proudly served in the Navy on the U.S.S. Richard B. Anderson during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion National Chapter. He was a retired truck driver. He liked fishing, restoring classic cars, spending time with family, and playing the harmonica. Samuel is survived by his children, Linda Bione and husband Vic of Herrin, Terry Lind and wife Angela of Marion, and Tim Lind of Radcliff, KY; grandchildren, Ricky Spiller, Nick Spiller, Matt Lind, Emily Lind, Jakob Lind, Ryan Lind, Katlin Lind, Tiffany Albers, Danielle Murray, Justin Lind, Shannon Bione, Nikko Bione, Rodney Lind Jr. and Daniel Lind; two brothers, Alfred Lind and wife Fannie of Agency, Iowa, and Gary Lind and wife Janice of Marion; one sister, Louise Buie of Sycamore; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; three children, Randy Lind, Rodney Lind, and Rhonda Spiller; and two brothers, James Henry Lind and Paul Lind. Per his request his body will be donated to the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine Services will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City, with military rites conducted by the Marion V.F.W. and American Legion and Illinois Army National Guard. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Johnston City Public Library or to the Williamson County Historical Society.
