| Howard Don Reed II, 35, of West Frankfort, Illinois passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015.  He was born April 6, 1979 in West Frankfort, Illinois to Charles "Tink" and Lynn Marie (Arrington) Reed. Howard graduated from West Frankfort High School in 1998. After his graduation, he enlisted into the United States Marine Corp. Cpl. Reed served his country proudly. He did two tours with the Marine Corp. The first tour was in Iraq and the other was Operation Enduring Freedom. While serving his country, Reed fought proudly in The Battle of An Nasiriyah in 2003. After his honorable service with the Marines, Reed joined the Army Reserves. With the reserves, he deployed to Kuwait and was injured. He was medically discharged. Howard was a member of American Legion – Benton, Illinois. He was preceded in death by: mother, Lynn (Arrington) Reed; aunt, Martha Short; grandfather, Odell Arrington; grandmothers, Betty Andrews and Imogene Reed; uncles: Chad Short, Johnny Andrews, and David Andrews.Survivors include two sons: Brantley and Braxton Reed of Benton; father, Charles "Tink" and wife Viola Reed of West Frankfort; brother, Charles Reed and significant other Amber Bowling of West Frankfort; sister, Haylee Reed of West Frankfort; nephew, Dusty Reed of West Frankfort; grandfathers: Howard Don Reed I and Les Andrews both of West Frankfort; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Funeral  services will be held Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort, Illinois with Rev. Dr. Eusebius Mbidoaka officiating.  Visitation will be Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Denning Cemetery on the Orient Road.  Military rites will be accorded by the American Legion of Benton, Illinois. | | |
