Norman E. Lancaster, 77, of Royalton, Illinois passed away at 9:40 p.m., Sunday, February 8, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Norman was born December 5, 1937 in Rienzi, Mississippi to Vernon and Ruby (Downs) Lancaster. He married Helen M. Powers June 16, 1958 in Missouri. She survives in Royalton. Other survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Norman E. (Teri A.) Lancaster, Jr. of Herrin, Eddie V. (Lori) Lancaster of Carbon Hill and Michael D. (Sarah) Lancaster of Newark, Delaware; a daughter and son-in-law, Levesia M. (Daniel) Hujda of Mokena; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Marjory Colaric of Coal City, Francis Baker of Poplar Bluff, MO, Brenda Maschmeyerof Memphis, TN; two brothers, Henry Lancaster of Poplar Bluff, MO and Martin Lancaster of Cape Girardeau, MO and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents preceded him in death. Mr. Lancaster retired after 31 years at Caterpillar in Joliet and a past Village President in Royalton serving two terms. He served four years in the United States Navy. He was a member of the Royalton Church of the Nazarene; Royalton Masonic Lodge and Lions Club. He was a former member of IHSA, baseball/softball umpire and wrestling referee. He was a member of the Coal City High School Chain Gang. In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Lancaster are suggested to Hospice of Southern Illinois, Inc., 204 Halfway Rd., Marion, Illinois 62959. Vantrease Funeral Home in Royalton is entrusted with the arrangements.
