    2.   Merle M. Cockrum age 99, of Benton, passed away at 2:05 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the Stonebridge Senior Living Center in Benton. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 9, 2015 at the Leffler - Poulson Funeral Home of Benton, with Rev. Kent Dunford officiating. Burial will be in the Horse Prairie Cemetery of Sesser. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Merle was born on February 16, 1915 in Elevenpoint, Arkansas, the daughter of William Riley Toliver and Mary Ann (Lee) Toliver. She married Lewis Cockrum on October 21, 1935, and he preceded her in death. Mrs. Cockrum was a homemaker and a caregiver to her son Lewis Alfred for all 67 years of his life. She and Lewis Alfred enjoyed watching television together and they were especially fond of the Andy Griffith Show. Malinda said she is sure her mother is in Heaven with all the loved ones that went on before her. And she said she is also sure that Merle and Lewis Alfred are somewhere in Heaven watching the Andy Griffith Show. Merle is survived by her daughter Malinda Roberts and husband Darrell of Benton; special nieces and nephews: Betty and Bob Johnson of Mulkeytown, Janet Turner, Hassel and Rick Patterson and Christine Smart, all of Pocahontas, Arkansas; several other nieces and nephews; special caregivers: Deborah Surf, LaDonna Green, Beth Carter and Leigh Ann Blackburn. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons: Robbie Cockrum and Lewis Alfred Cockrum; and eleven brothers and sisters. He was born in Wayne City, IL on August 17, 1938, the son of Marshall & Alma (Buchanan) Trotter. He married Jeanette (Booten), and she preceded him in death on December 23, 2008. Mr. Trotter worked for Orb Howard Oil Co. He was a retired Coal Miner and a UMWA member. He was a Heavy Equipment Operator, he also worked for Bluebell Packing Co. He was a private Business owner, operating the Colonial House Restaurant in Benton, and the Farmers Market Produce business. He also worked at Norman Fred Trucking. Gloria was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; attended Immanuel Baptist Church – Benton, Illinois; She loved helping people and also loved to cook.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Clement ""Gandy"" Odle; brothers: Billy Gene, John, and Vernon Dotson; sisters: Alma Kerley and Ellen Baker; and special friend, Kenneth Storme.  Survivors include her sons: John and wife Sally Odle of West Frankfort; Ron and wife Teresa Odle of Herrin; sister, Jackie Mattingly of Rocky Mount, Virginia; five grandchildren: Dan Odle, Missy Odle, John M. Odle, Mary Beth Trexler, and Brandon Odle; and nine great-grandchildren.     2.  Carmen Lucille Lampley, 81, passed away Tuesday morning Feb. 3, 2015, in Franklin Hospital in Benton.She was born April 27, 1933, in Carbondale, the daughter or Glenn O. and Lillian (Adams) Hayse.She married Kenneth James Lampley on May 5, 1950, and he preceded her in death Jan. 17, 2006.Mrs. Lampley was a very active member of North Benton Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and was very involved in the Wednesday night kids program.She loved camping, country western music and dancing. (Sheila Roach) Wilson of Benld, IL, Adam (Kelly) Talley of Lansing, MI, Anthony (Karlyn) Smith of Mt. Draper, 79, of Marion, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at 3:22 pm at Heartland Regional Medical Center.Lyle was born July 17, 1935 in Creal Springs the son of Benjamin Franklin and Mable (Rushing) Draper.  He married his high school sweetheart, Frances Meadows in Kennett, Missouri on March 16, 1953 and together they have shared almost 62 years of marriage.He was a member of Heartland Christian Church. He was a master craftsman, a perfectionist and a multi-talented artist.  Lyle enjoyed camping and motorcycle riding and the family will cherish the many memories of the times spent in Colorado. In his free time he enjoyed playing cards and working crossword puzzles.     2.   formerly of West Frankfort, IL, passed away at 8:20 p.m. on Monday, January 26, 2015, at Franklin Hospital of Benton, IL.He was born on Friday, January 24, 1930, the son of Ruel W. and Lillian May (Arnold) Parks.Charles grew up and attended school in Marion and was a graduate of Marion High School Class of 1948.He answered the call of this nation by serving in the United States Air Force. After his period of faithful service from August 6, 1948 until August 31, 1968, he was honorably discharged with the rank of Master Sergeant.After returning to Southern Illinois he was a Building Management Supervisor for the Marion VA Medical Center for fourteen years until he retired in 1990.Charles was united in marriage to Ida M. Dickinson in Las Vegas, NV, on Wednesday, November 13, 1985, and together they shared over twenty-one years of marriage until her death on October 30, 2007.He was of the Protestant faith and was a former member of the West Frankfort Elks Club, a life member of VFW Heyde-Pillow Post No. 1301 of Marion, IL and a member of the American Legion Post No. 1961 of Orient, IL.He is survived by his stepson, William Neeley of Benton, IL; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Tom Collard and Charann and Ronnie Cox all of San Antonio, TX, twelve grandchildren, other extended family members and many friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ida M.     2.   Ruth Adele (Schilling) Diuguid, 87, of Royalton, Illinois passed away at 12:50 a.m., Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the Hillview Healthcare Center in Vienna. Ruth was born December 29, 1927 in Alexander County, Illinois to Thomas and Thelma (Betz) Schilling. She married Chester Leon Diuguid July 2, 1946 in Royalton. He preceded her in death September 6, 2000. She is survived by five sons and four daughters-in-law, George and Sue Holmes of Jacksonville, NC, Ronald and Sheron Diuguid of Royalton, Bill and Kathy Diuguid of Florida and Bob Diuguid of Royalton and Roger Diuguid and Becky of Fort Oglethorpe, GA; daughter-in-law, Patricia Diuguid of Ocala, FL; 14 grandchildren, Lori and Georgie Holmes, Diana and Shawn Walker, Sheila and Scott Stubblefield, Ronnie Diuguid, Dana and Larry Cluster, Michelle and Brian Barton, Kim and Jim Murphy, Billy Diuguid, Angela Weston and Shawn Fasig, Amanda and TJ Jones, Christopher Diuguid, Rebekah Diuguid and Tara Diuguid; 26 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren. Her parents; a son, Larry Diuguid, a brother, Tom Schilling and two sisters, Todd Hunt, Rose Walters also preceded her in death. Mrs. Diuguid was a member of the First Baptist Church in Royalton and a homemaker. She enjoyed fishing, bingo and spending time with her family. Funeral services for Mrs. Diuguid will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at the Royalton First Baptist Church with Brother Ron Knox officiating. Burial will be at Miners Cemetery east of Royalton. Visiting hours are from 5 to 8:00 p.m., Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Diuguid are suggested to the Hillview Healthcare Center, 512 11th Street, Vienna, IL 62995. Envelopes will be available at the church.
