THOMPSONVILLE -- Wilma Lovell Carlile, 101, passed away at 7:45 p.m. Sunday, April 5, 2015, in Fifth Season Residential in Benton. She was born Nov. 10, 1913, in Parrish to Charles and Stella (Melvin) Woodrow. She married Roscoe Carlile on May 11, 1932. Lovell and Roscoe worked at Lincoln Development Center in Lincoln, she as a beautician and Roscoe as a teacher. After retiring, they returned to their home in Thompsonville. She was a member of Thompsonville First Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and kept her Bible close. Lovell was a survivor of the Great Tri-State Tornado of 1925. Her memories of the tornado never faded. She recorded the events of that day for her family. Survivors include two sons, C.L. Carlile and wife, Phyllis, of Thompsonville and Norman Carlile and wife, Jean, of Benton; five grandchildren, Cathy (Speck) Fletcher, Lisa (Scott) Page, Kenton (Jane) Carlile, Christy (Rob) Chrostoski and Daren (Shelly) Carlile; 13 great-grandchildren, Wade and fiance Becky Fletcher, Stacey (Wade) Finnie, Heather (Ryan) Stock, Ashley Page, K.C. Navy during World War II at Great Lakes Naval Base in Chicago, where she met her husband of 59 years, Clarence M. Overturf of Buckner. They were married on December 27, 1946 in Morganfield, KY. Evelyn was a retired LPN from the Herrin Hospital where she worked for 23 years. She enjoyed meeting with the Herrin Hospital Retirees Group each month. She was a faithful and active member of the First Baptist Church of Energy for 56 years and also volunteered at the Herrin Community Pantry. Evelyn was always quick with a kind word and a helping hand. No one could make apple butter, sugar cookies, carrot cake, pickles or spaghetti like her. She enjoyed the outdoors, sewing, reading, playing games and most of all her family. He will be remembered for his love of singing, playing music, dancing, fishing, reminiscing about his friends and telling stories to make his family laugh. He especially loved to sing in church. He was born the son of Louis and Oma (Sweetin) Conner on Dec. 20, 1925, in Ina and married Betty Ann Toney on Nov. 2, 1948, in Piggott, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on Nov. 23, 1989. To this union was born four children: Kathy Elaine (Conner) Tullis; Terry Joe and wife, Cheryl, Conner; Jerry Dan and wife, Rebecca, Conner and Jeffrey Alan and wife, Kathy Conner. He was also a father to his one stepson, Jimmy Scott Shaw, who preceded him in death on March 13, 1976. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a retired coal miner and 67-year UMWA member, and a member of the Ewing Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of the Ina Missionary Baptist Church. He is survived by his children, nine grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren and one step great-grandson. He did paint names and Pictures on Bombers that were sent overseas to fight. After his military service M.C. came home to his wife and son, Roger. He began working at the A&P Grocery Store on Main Street. He won many promotional contests with his displays at the store. Wednesday evenings were devoted to Harold Wade's Market Basket signs. M.C's career as a sign painter really took off after he retired. M.C. served as president of the Tower Heights Cemetery Assoc. for 35 years. He was the Oldest living member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in West Frankfort. Survivors include his son, Roger (Brenda) Odle of West Frankfort; grandchildren, Lori (Kevin) Wilson of West Frankfort, Chris Odle of Belleville and Andy Odle (Fiancé Amy) of Zeigler; great grandchildren, Lucas, Brock, Amelia, Greg and Tripp. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rose; three sisters, Marie, Clara and Elizabeth and two infant sibling. Funeral Home Website Apr 3, 2015 Robert Joe "Bob" Edmonds, 73, of Mulkeytown, Illinois passed away at 5:00 a.m., Thursday, April 02, 2015 at his home with his loving family at his side. Bob was born March 30, 1942 in West Frankfort to Robert Leroy and Dorothy Ruth (Bacon) Edmonds. He married Kimbra Jo Janello July 11, 1986 in Mulkeytown. She survives in Mulkeytown. Other survivors include two sons, Bryan Edmonds of Tamaro, Robby Edmonds of Olney; a step-daughter, Jamie Arondelli of Christopher; three grandchildren, Chase Arondelli of Christopher and Jacob Reed of Benton and a great granddaughter Julie Laurent in Mulkeytown; a brother, Roy Edmonds of Mulkeytown and two sisters, Nancy Rice of Mulkeytown and Reba Hilty of Christopher. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Eco Edmonds. Mr. Edmonds was a retired coal miner who last worked at the Kerr McGhee mine in Galatia. He served in the Illinois National Guard and had been a member of the Bloomington American Legion Post 2910. Private family interment services will be at Zeigler Cemetery. Madeline E. Moyer, 71, of Benton, died at 6:42AM, Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon. She was born September 25, 1943 in Patoka, Indiana to Leonard and Goldie Augusta (McCrary) Bishop. She married Gerald L. Moyer on June 18, 1966. He preceded her in death on September 2, 2005. Madeline attended Third Baptist Church in West Frankfort. For over 20 years she worked as the cafeteria cook at Benton Middle School. She is survived by her daughter, Anna (Tracy) Henderson of Herrin; grandchildren, Jerry, Joseph and Gabbrianna Henderson also of Herrin; step-son, Gary Moyer of Evansville, Indiana; step-daughter, Lori Koss of Newburg, Indiana; brothers, Jim (Lois) Bishop and Don Eugen (Donna) Bishop both of Patoka, Indiana; sister, Ellen Y.
