    3. Peoria Journal Star James Hall Obituary PEKIN - James Randall Hall Sr., 84, of rural Pekin passed away at 10:29 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at his residence. Born Nov. 6, 1928, in West Frankfort to George and Ella Mae (Snethen) Hall, he married Wanda Loudean Shelton on June 6, 1947, in West Frankfort. She survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Darlene Kay (John) Clemens of Ormond Beach, Fla.; one son, Pastor J. Randall "Randy" (Debi) Hall Jr. of Morton; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one brother, George (Evalyn) Hall of Tucson, Ariz.; and one sister, Naomi Green of West Frankfort. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Paul Hall, Fred Hall and Marshall Hall; and one sister, Ruby Perry. Jim was a World War II Army veteran. He had worked as a self-employed roofing contractor for many years. No services or visitation are planned. Cremation will be accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.     3. Tony Walukonis, 97, of Benton died at 3:15 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at the Villages of St. Peters, St. Peters, Mo. Mr. Walukonis was born on Jan. 17, 1916, in Christopher, the son of Jonas Walukonis and Mary (Pervinutis) Walukonis. He married the former Theresa Rebarick, and she preceded him in death. Tony operated a barber shop at his home and enjoyed dancing and playing the accordion, guitar, harmonica and the fiddle. Surviving relatives include a daughter, Mary (Jeff) Baude, Chicago; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Julia Bogdansky. Mr. Walukonis was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a daughter, Judith Yehling. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Harrison Cemetery in Buckner with Father Joseph Trapp officiating.     3. CENTRALIA — Dora Mae (Black) Cohlmeyer, age 87, of Richview, died 2:10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Centralia Fireside House. She was born Nov. 10, 1925, in Macedonia, the daughter of Oscar and Venita (Brake) Gaither. Dora Mae was first married to Lester Black, who preceded her in death. She was later married to Roger Cohlmeyer, who survives. Also surviving are four sons, Larry Black and wife Sherry of Whittington, Ron Black and wife Cindy of Johnstown, Colo., Kenny Black of Decatur and Randy Black and wife Pam of Richview; stepchildren Debbie Woods of Houston, Barbara Phillips of Centralia and Roger Cohlmeyer of Richview; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Lena Fae Ingram of McLeansboro, Madge Free of Milledgeville and Betty Cowgill of Cincinnatti. In addition to her first husband, Dora Mae was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Nina Bowers of McLeansboro and Lauretta Rolf of Centralia; and a brother who died in infancy. Dora Mae was a member of Richview United Methodist Church and an avid St. Louis baseball Cardinal fan. She had been self-employed in the grocery business. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Richview United Methodist Church with the Revs. Dennis Gambill and Sherry Black officiating. Interment was in Richview Cemetery.     3. MCLEANSBORO -- Arthur "Arch" Taylor, 74, of Lebanon, Mo., formerly of McLeansboro, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2013. Local services will be at 3 p.m. today in Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton. Memorials have been suggested to Project 25:35, and donations may be left at Shadel's Colonial Chapel in Lebanon, Mo. Mr. Taylor worked for Sears and Roebuck for more than 35 years. He was a member of Laclede Lodge 83 A.F. & A.M., Laclede County Shrine Club and First Baptist Church. He was born July 11, 1938, in McLeansboro to Arthur B. and Ruby Mae Craddock Taylor. He married Dorothy "Dot" Wingo on Aug. 5, 1961, and she survives. Other survivors include his son, John Taylor and wife, Emily, of Overland Park, Kan.; daughter, Jodi Weber and husband, Jeff, of Dubuque, Iowa; sister, Mary Ann Page and husband, Larry, of Benton; five grandchildren, Lauren, Sydney and Avery Taylor and Taylor and Alec Weber; sister-in-law, JoAnn Coleman of Lebanon, Mo.; many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives; and many friends.     3. WEST FRANKFORT -- Ted A. Starnes, 71, passed away at 11:05 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, in the VA Community Living Center in Marion. He was born Dec. 17, 1941, in West Frankfort to Alvin and Ireta (Pike) Starnes. Survivors include his sister, Loveta Taylor of Herrin; nephew, Michael and (Tamara) Newbold of Herrin; great-nephew, Mitch Newbold of Columbia S.C.; great-niece, Lindsay Newbold of Herrin; aunt, Alice Finkelstein of St. Peters, Mo.; and his longtime companion, Starla Martin of West Frankfort. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Starnes served in the U.S. Army. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, in Denning Cemetery on Orient Road with military rites by Orient and Zeigler American Legions, West Frankfort VFW and Marion Funeral Honors Team.     3. EWING -- Mary "Lou" Overturf, 87, passed away at 4:15 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, in Stonebridge Senior Living Center in Benton. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, in Morton-Johnston Funeral Home in Benton. Burial will be in Thurmond Cemetery in Ewing. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Overturf loved her family and surprised them often with pies, cookies, fudge and chicken and dumplings, her favorite things to make. She loved gardening, flowers and sewing. She joined Frisco Baptist Church on May 19, 1940. She said she was saved right before dinner and baptized right after dinner, and they took her into the church at the water's edge. She was born July 4, 1925, in Geneva, the daughter of Clarence Harley "Sam" and Allie (Lunsford) Neal. She married Glan J. "Bud" Overturf on Oct. 13, 1941. Both were 16 years old. They were happily married for 54 years, and he preceded her in death May 1, 1996. They grew up in the same farming community. His grandparents, who were neighbors, always told her they hoped Bud would marry her when he grew up. Survivors include her daughter, Peggy Sink and husband, Ronnie, of Macedonia; son, Denny Overturf and wife, Phyllis, of Benton; grandchildren, Christopher Sink and wife, Lori, of Macedonia, Jennifer Webster and husband, Kevin, of Macedonia, Adam Overturf and wife, Angie, of St. David, Ariz., Doug Overturf and wife, Megan, of Marion, Jessica Conley and husband, Dan, of Walkersville, Md., Alexandria "Alex" Cummings and husband, Sean, of Phoenix, Sarah Phipps and husband, Robert, of Du Quoin and Ashley Eichhorn of Pinckneyville; great-grandchildren, Alison, Emma, Ryan, Logan, Hayley, Kelsie, Sadie, Jacob, Gabbie, Skyler, Hayley, Grace, Anna, Carley and Molly (who will soon be born to Doug and Megan Overturf).     3. THOMPSONVILLE -- James Elmo McFarland, 89, passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, in Carrier Mills Nursing Home. Elmo was born June 11, 1923, in Saline County to Hence and Anna (Kelley) McFarland. He married Freeda Mae (Carney) McFarland on June 10, 1942; she preceded him in death in December 2005. Elmo was a retired coal miner and farmer. He also was a member and elder of Lebanon South Church of Galatia. Survivors include a daughter, Janice (Fred) Densch; son, Randy (Kim) McFarland; three grandsons, Shannon (Amanda) McFarland, Karl (Nicki) Densch and Brian (Amber) Densch; granddaughter, Stacey (Jason) Cochran; two great-grandsons, Jace Cochran and Kase Densch; and two great-granddaughters, Maddie McFarland and Jaylee Cochran. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Elwood McFarland; and three sisters, Grace Moser, Gladys Evans and Pauline Kaytor. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, in Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia with the Revs. Kevin Peyton and Jeff Odum officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Thompsonville. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
