Larry VICK told me: *** The Geno 2.0 chip is a special Illumina chip that tests SNPs that are ancestry informative. The Genographic Project has been changing the download file to eliminate problematic SNPs, but mine has 12,316 Y-SNPs, 12,049 mtDNA SNPs, and 127,876 autosomal and X-SNPs. There are SNPs on the Geno 2.0 chip that are on the FF and/or 23andMe chip. While it is not the purpose of the Geno 2.0 test to replace or supplement the Family Finder test, Ann TURNER has found that you can find matches by comparing FF and Geno 2.0 autosomal and X files. I don't know if she is going to make her method available to others. *** The autosomal test at 23andme and FTDNA-Family Finder uses the Illumina V3 chip with ~900,000 SNPs. Soooo -- there "may" be a way to map some of the SNPs from GENO 2.0 :-) -SRJ > -----Original Message----- > From: ilfrankl-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:ilfrankl- > bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Sheldon Jones > Sent: Saturday, March 02, 2013 1:07 PM > To: ilfrankl@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [ILFRANKL] Autosomal DNA question > > I'll have to ask my new-found father-in-law's cousin, Larry VICK, about how > Geno 2.0 markers/SNPs match up with V3 chip SNPs... All of this information about various DNA testing options is much appreciated. My mother and now my father have taken the test with Ancestry.com.
