Nathaniel's widow Rachel and the younger children are on the 1850 census. I have a transcript of his probate, probably from one of Carla's books, but don't have it on this computer. I think it names all their children. Rachel's maiden name was Anderson per other researchers; I haven't seen the marriage record, and I'm not sure how they know her name. As far as I know, no one has been able to find Nathaniel's parents' names. Two of their sons Albert and Charles married my gg-aunts Nancy Jane and Sarah Carlile, and another son PK was married to a relative on my maternal side. Also, I have a first cousin who is a direct descendant of Nathaniel & Rachel. And our farm is across the road from where the cabin used to stand. The next generation to live in the cabin was Nathaniel's & Rachel's son Philander "PK" Jones and his wife Sarah (Bailey) Hungate Jones. My great aunt told me aboutn visiting relatives at the Jones cabin and playing with other children there, at Dixon-Bailey family reunions, about 1900-1910, but she wasn't clear exactly how the people in the cabin were related. 3. Susan I found the name James Littlepage interesting in your email. When I worked in California and later Colorado for Sun Microsystems, I worked for a guy named James "Jay" Littlepage. As I was photographing cemeteries in Wayne County, at Farnsworth I found a gravestone for James A. Littlepage 1852-1913 which I sent to my former boss. He got a chuckle out of seeing it. He is 3rd generation California so he has no idea if he is related to this man or not: http://waynecoil-gen.com/cem/farnsworth/P0000438.JPG Sandy (Whalen) Bauer On 3/30/2013 7:01 PM, susan branam wrote: > I've been loosely following the Moore discussion, which I don't think connects to my own Moore, but I noticed this: > > > >> Moores. 3. You must be talking about another Nathaniel Jones, the one who's cabin is in middle of Thompsonville and is pictured in that article is S/o Moses well documented family. Both Moses & Nathaniel have tombstones in Jones Cemetery but not buried there. Moses Jones the father of most Jones in that area died in Spring Settlement near Browning Hill and buried there. I have been to his cabin and have taken pictures years ago shortly after it was rebuilt in Thompsonville. 3. One of the sons of Nathaniel and Rachel was Felix Grundy Jones, who married the sister (Nancy Jones Jones) of my Great Grandfather. I have info that Nathaniel and Rachel are both buried at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Saline County, IL. In 2002, when I was at this cemetery, Nathaniel's headstone was broken into 2 pieces and was not in good condition. I have his death date as October 8, 1846. Rachel died in 1899. I show that they were married December 23, 1824 in Franklin County, IL. Rachel's maiden name may have been determined from a marriage record of one of her children, depending on when and where they married. 1. [ILFRANKL] Harris question (Lenora Harris Moore)
    2. susan branam
    3. I've been loosely following the Moore discussion, which I don't think connects to my own Moore, but I noticed this: > Moores. My GGG Grandmother, Leonora Harris, first married William Moore in > Hopkins Co. KY. After William died she married my GGG Grandfather William > Penn Bradley in Posey Co. IN. They later moved to IL and first settled in > Hamilton Co. and then later moved to Franklin Co. When Lenora and William > Bradley left for IL all of her living Moore children came too. > So I was wondering if you have anything on the Harris family further back? I have two connections to Harris's in Hopkins TN. Arminda Harris married William Carlisle abt 1840 in Hopkins. They moved to IL then Posey IN then Hamilton IL. Lucinda Harris married James Littlepage in Hopkins abt 1820ish. I've never known the parents of either, but have wondered whether they are connected. Susan C.

    2. Catherine Allison
    3. Debbie, Nathaniel W. Jones moved to FCI in 1819 from Wilson Co, TN. when he was 9 years old. He was s/o Moses Jones and Elizabeth Allen. At age 22 he volunteered for Black Hawk War. After he returned home he married Mahala Cleveland about 1835 so would assume the log cabin in picture was built about this time. After her death he m Elizabeth Summers Jackson 18 Jan 1855 FCI. He had 7 children with Mahala, Mary Alice, Andrew, Sarah Jane (mine who m Hiram Summers 1857) Sidney, John, Scott, & Martin b about 1849 who died as a baby along with his mother about the same time. The 2nd marriage to Elizabeth had James A, Elizabeth Irene, twin of Mahala & Martha E. On 9 march 1853 Nathaniel was appointed supervisor of all the roads in Dist # 30 beginning at Robert Clancy Summers place. This was his father in law. He had land off what is now HY 34 half way between Hanaford & Parish, IL. Jones Cemetery is located there and I was told his log cabin in that picture was located there. In talking to some old timers in Thompsonville a older man said he remembered that Nathaniel loved to play the fiddle and people would come out to his place, they would have big dances there. Nathaniel was born 1810 in Wilson Co TN to Moses Jones JR and Elizabeth Allen Jones, he was one of 7 children of Moses. Moses m 1st Hester Thomas in Gates Co, NC.19 Sept 1791. Whose father was Moses Sr who had lived in Isle of Wight Co VA. where Moses Jr was born. I found that Moses SR had about 5 children, two sons and 3 daughters. Moses JR brother William was also in Rev War and both ended in Wilson Co TN after the war. Moses listed as having bought land from Nathan Allen 19 Sep 1802 in Wilson Co on Bartons Creek, 220 acres. Then he bought land from Samuel Thomas 8 Feb 1808, which was 150 acres. He sold land in Wilson Co in 1816 and came to FCI. His brother William died a little before Moses moved from Wilson Co and some of Williams sons came up to Ill with their Uncle Moses along with Moses children in 1819.This family was very interesting and books were written about them. -----Original Message----- From: ilfrankl-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:ilfrankl-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Debbie V.
