    2. WEST FRANKFORT -- Vernon Gene Claridy, 76, of West Frankfort, formerly of Anna, died at 7:06 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2014, in Franklin Hospital. He was born June 7, 1937, in Anna, to Elbert and Louise (Lazenby) Clardy. He married Dorotha Aldrich on Feb. 7, 1963, in Anna, and she survives. He was a Denning Township Trustee. was a proud member of IBEW Local 702 and worked as a journeyman lineman for 42 years and for CIPS for 35 years. Vernon served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division. He always put his family first. He was a wonderful grandfather who adored his grandkids with all his heart. Survivors include his wife, Dorotha Claridy of West Frankfort; daughter, Becky (Mark) Jelley of Zeigler; two brothers, Wayne (Jean) Lazenby of Burlington, Wis.; Elbert (Shirley) Clardy of Anna; sister, Sheila (Jim) Whittington of Anna; sister-in-law, Eleanor Clardy of Anna; four grandchildren, Justin Swinkunas, Nicholas Swinkunas and fiancée, Amelia Phemister, Abbey and Gabe Jelley and one great-grandchild, Kaden. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cindy Claridy; twin sister, Berma Dean Pender and brother, James Clardy. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 28, in Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort, with Pastor Karl Barnfield officiating. Interment will be in Denning Cemetery on the Orient Road. Military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 1961 of Orient, Zeigler Post 177, VFW Post 5764 of West Frankfort, and Marion National Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, March 27, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude. I believe the marriage record means this was her first marriage and his second. That is the way it is in JCI. She was born February 25, 1955 in Chicago, Il. to George and Geraldine Tsiapas. Survivors include her daughter, Catalina Tsiapas of West Frankfort and a brother, Michael Tsiapas of Lake Zurich, Il.. She was preceded in death by her parents.   She was a member of the St. John’s Catholic Church in West Frankfort. There will be no funeral services or visitation. Pryor, 77, of Glen Carbon, formerly of Ewing, died 3:20 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2014, in Glen Carbon.He was born March 26, 1936, in Galatia, the son of Arthur and Ruth Ellen (Holland) Pryor. He married Rebecca S. Edwards on July 30, 1961, in Equality and she preceded him in death on March 21, 2009.Gordon served two years in the U.S. Army and was an Illinois Bell technician until retiring. He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Mt. Vernon and Mt. Vernon Masonic Lodge 31 A.F.& A.M. He was an amateur radio operator and he loved Westerns, both movies and books, playing acoustic guitar, spending time with his family, traveling and camping.He is survived by three daughters, Cyndi Kirk of Glen Carbon, Patricia Marona and husband Keith of Pinson, Ala. and Leslie Castaneda and partner Moraima Castaneda of Chapel Hill, N.C.; son, Phillip Pryor and wife Carla of Ina; six grandchildren, Michelle Donley of Mt.     2. Kenneth Ray Graves, 74, died peacefully at 2:50 p.m., Friday, March 21, 2014 at St. John's Hospice surrounded by family. Ken was born February 6, 1940 in West Frankfort, IL, the youngest of seven sons of Aaron L. and Wilma E. Graves. He married Judith A. Carmody on June 13, 1970. Survivors include his wife Judy, his son, Terry (Shawna) Graves, and grandchildren, Derek and Kendra Graves of Denver, CO. Ken is also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Ken retired as a supervisor from the State of Illinois in 1991. He thoroughly enjoyed retirement, traveling with his wife and family visiting all 50 states. They had a knack for being followed by tornadoes, hurricanes, power outages and fires. An active member of St. Frances Cabrini church, Ken took pride and comfort in long standing friendships and community there. He also loved his surrogate family at St. John's Cardiac Rehab exercise class where he was top dog in minutes. He was an avid collector of Budweiser beer steins and attended the yearly American Breweriana Convention. Ken enjoyed hunting with family and friends, and spent many years as the catcher on his softball team. His quick wit and teasing will be missed by all who knew him. Preceding Ken in death were his parents and six brothers, Gene Vaughn of Houston, MO, Loren, Lloyd (Red), Bill, Sam and Jerry Graves all of West Frankfort, IL. Family will host a Memorial Gathering: 10-11 am Friday, March 28, 2014 at St. Frances Cabrini Church, 1020 North Milton, Springfield, Illinois. Memorial Mass: 11 am, Friday, March 28, 2014 at St. Frances Cabrini Church with Reverend Richard Chiola officiating. Private burial will be at a later date at St. John's Cemetery in Carrollton, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Cabrini Church or the American Cancer Society .
