There is a mistake in Albert Gulley's obit. He did not have a brother named Virgil, but had a sister, Virginia Lee Gulley. Her death record has her name as Virgie Gulley. She was born Nov. 1918 & died Feb. 15, 1920. She is included in the 1920 FCI census as Virginia Gulley age 1 & 2/12. I don't recall there being any damage to the church or cemetery, The church was actually about a quarter mile north of the tornado path, There were quite a few trees around the church at the time and I don't recall any damage to the trees near the church. Was the church or cemetery damaged? When the tornado went through West Frankfort the Denning Cemetery had major damage in the old section. The old stones was turned over and some was out of the ground and in a field near by. Bob feel free to tell us all more. It was the day before Easter Sunday. The day started out rainy with storm warnings, but by noon the sun had come out. I know there was some damage in Sesser but don't remember seeing any. In the Horse Prairie community, the Bill Sample home was pushed off its foundation. The house was pretty much in tact but was setting on the ground . The Walter Newbury farm located just south of Horse Prairie Church was totally demolished except for one old barn filled with hay. The house were my family lived was locater about a quarter mile east of the church. It had all the windows blown out and the inside was filled with glass, but otherwise in tact. The garage which was only about 10 ft. from the house was destroyed. It was made of concrete blocks with an upper loft and roof of wood. The block walls were laying flat on the ground it looked as though the upper part had just dropped to the ground. It was! still pretty much in tact. Some out buildings near the house were destroyed, but the barns and other structures away from the house were all intact. We spent the night at mom's parents in Valier, but mom stop on the way there at the dime store in Sesser to get something so us kids would have Easter Candy. I have lots of memories of weird things that happened that day but it would fill several pages, and most people would get bored reading it.
