    3. Donald Mundell Obituary (Photo) BENTON -- Donald Paxton Mundell, of Hot Springs Village, Ark., passed away Saturday, April 12, in St. Vincent Arkansas Hospice Hot Springs. He was born Feb. 14, 1932, to the late Herbert and Edith Paxton Mundell of Benton. Following graduation from Benton High School, Donald enlisted and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1954. With his military obligation completed, he pursued his college degree and attended the University of Texas and received a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering in August 1957. He accepted a position in New York City with IBM from 1957 to 1958 and soon realized he wanted to move south. The remainder of his entire working career, 1958 to 1991, was with Texas Instruments in Dallas, attaining the position of executive vice president. Donald is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lavern Gray and infant, Reva Nadine Mundell. He leaves his loving wife, Bette, and her family; his brother, Roger Mundell; one uncle, Eugene Paxton; and several nieces and nephews, all of Benton. Mr.Huffstutler was a commercial dishwasher sales representative with Mars Sales and Equipment Company in Centralia, Illinois from 1982 to 1993. He was previously employed as a carpenter for Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois from 1967 to 1979. Mr. Huffstutler was a Seaman in the U.S. Navy serving from March 21, 1955 until October 28, 1958. He was stationed on the U.S.S. Iowa where he traveled through different countries including Spain, France, Italy, Cuba, Scotland and Brazil. He became a member of the Ancient and Royal Order of the Nose when his ship crossed the equator on September 20, 1957. The Benton newspaper published a letter from Mr. Huffstutler's Commanding Officer Captain F.J. Becton that was written to his family commending their son's performance during NATO exercises in the Atlantic. He loved his country and loved serving his country. He had a great interest in electronics especially the computer, CB Radio and Ham Radio. He went by the handle of Doc Holliday. He was one to listen to country music. He enjoyed his motorcycles and riding with his friends. As told by his family, he stated "you can do anything in the world, just find the right book to read." He cherished the time he spent with his family especially his children and grandchildren. He moved to Centralia, Illinois in 1982 and formerly lived in Mt. Vernon and Elgin, Illinois. In accordance with Doc Holliday's wishes, cremation will be performed. There will be no public visitation or services. A Celebration of Life Services and Military Honors will take place at a later date. Ward, Oldest Resident Of Sesser, Dies Sesser's oldest resident died Thursday. She was Mrs. Alice Bertha Ward, 92, who succumbed in Marshall Browning Hospital in DuQuoin, where she had been a patient since last December 21. Mrs. Ward was the widow of Dr. E. E. Ward and had lived in Sesser since 1905, moving from Winfield. She was bom December 12, (sic.) in Indiana, the daughter of James H. and Julia Ann (Reeves) Cleveland. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Sesser Baptist church, of which she was a member, with the pastor, the Rev. Bill Christoff and the Rev. Vernon, and John Shaw, Godfrey; and three sisters, Mrs. Muriel Towers, Benton, Mrs. Mary Clark, Mt. Vernon, and Mrs. June Hopper, Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Charlotte Ann; two brothers and three sisters.
