Hi folks, I am a new subscriber to this list. Am I correctly understanding that this list is also for Iroquois and Kankakee Counties, even though the address is ILFORD?? I am seeking descendants or individuals who might have knowledge of a GEORGE family who lived in the vicinity of Crescent City and Onarga, circa 1880's. I have my great-grandmother's autograph book which is 120 years old. It contains entries by two of her nieces, signed as follows: Allie GEORGE Crescent City, Ill. December 16, 1879 Orra M. GEORGE Crescent City, Ill. June 15, 1882 I believe Allie GEORGE is likely Alice Adelaide GEORGE, b. 7 Jan 1860, who married Benjamin M. WHITTEMORE on 18 Nov 1884 somewhere in Iroquois County. (Ref. Illinois Archives - Illinois Statewide Marriage Index) I am not familiar with the name Orra M. GEORGE, but she was likely a sister to Alice (Allie). Other siblings to these two girls who allegedly lived in Iroquois County were: 1. Willard Howard GEORGE, b. 21 Feb 1858 in DuPage County. 2. Lucy Edna GEORGE, b. 15 Mar 1883. The parents of these children were John Dalrimple GEORGE and Harriet Marion TYLER who were married in Will County, IL. John was a farmer who allegedly lived near Onarga.
