I'm researching the names Doss and Maskrod in this area of Illinois. John Maskrod with his children Julius (grandson raised as his son), Mary, Louis and Adeline. They were in Illinois after 1860 and moved on to Kansas about 1876. I am searching for other family members who may have immigrated with them from Italy, France or Switzerland (?). Fredric Doss, who emigrated in 1855 from Germany at the age of 25. He married Mary Maskrod. Although I have know that Mary moved to Kansas with her parents, I am having trouble deciding if Fred went with them. 1900 census in Illinois shows Fred living in Essex Township, Essex Village, Kankakee County, but divorced. I have been unable to find out when or where he died. Although an unusual name such as Maskrod (also spelled Maskrid and Maskaroid) is easy to separate the chaff from the grain, there's not a lot of grain. <smile> Charlotte
