Thanks, LAURIE >> Laurie, I have looked through my sources at home and found just a couple of things that may help you on your way. It's no doubt this family was here in Kankakee County, probably by 1849-54. If they followed the typical pattern, they settled first in Bourbonnais and then may have moved to St. Anne, and then to Kansas/Nebraska and other places west. The two baptism records above are the only positive connections thus far. The source I used is listed below. * = Source : "Father Chiniquy's Ledger 1851, St. Anne, Illinois"; Ardis M. Boone-compiler(these records from First Presbyterian Church of St. Anne, Illinois I also found a bio on a Louis GOUDREAU who was born 12 Oct 1829 near St. Martins in Montreal. His parents were Joseph Gudreau and Marie Montcalm. This Louis settled in Bourbonnais in July 1854 and eventually moved to Kankakee to maintain a hardware store. It may be a long shot, but I would check birth records at this St. Martins area to see if just maybe this Louis is a younger brother to your Joseph. Also, I would check with Maternity Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Bourbonnais. They may have baptism records of the first few children. Especially the ones born before 1856. Their address is Marsiles Street, Bourbonnais, IL 60914. Be sure to give them the best possible date and parents names as you can. Please keep me posted of your progress as I may be able to help in some way later.
