    1. [ILFORD-L] Fort Wayne in July

    3. Y'all come. In case you haven't heard, or in case you've forgotten about it... The Millennium Conference Program, Celebrating the Century, sponsored by The Allen County Public Library in Fort Wayne will take place July 19-22 at the Grand Wayne Convention Center. Discounted registration deadline is June 10. You can register after that, but it will cost you. Speakers include some names I've not seen before in Fort Wayne. I suspect tickets to the Illinois Genealogical Society luncheon on Wednesday will go fast. The speaker is Cyndi Howells. She also has sessions in the conference. PERSI will be demonstrated several times during the conference. Software demonstrations are planned, including at least two by the Family History Department, Genealogical Society of Utah. THE BEST PART: Moon-light Madness at ACPL The Historical Genealogy Department will be open to conference attendees on Wednesday, July 19 from 9 a.m. (early open, I beleive) to midnight!!!!!! Thursday will feature an early-open at 6 a.m. and will be open to attendees until midnight!!!! Friday and Saturday both feature an early-open at 6 a.m. for attendees. Visit http://www.acpl.lib.in.us/genealogy/genealogy.html, click on "Year 2000 -- where the dates for the conference are wrong, by the way -- they added an extra day at the front) and send e-mail (bottom of the page) to Curt Witcher to obtain a registration form. Or call 219-421-1225, ask for the genealogy department and say you want registration forms. I was hoping to find one online, but no luck at the ACPL site that I could see. Maybe somewhere else? A map of downtown Fort Wayne is available at http://www.genealogycenter.com/ Other Fort Wayne attractions can be seen at http://www.fwcvb.org/ including hotels information. The hotels with special rates for the conference are: Hilton at the Convention Center Holiday Inn and Suites (downtown) Fort Wayne Mariott -- shuttle to the conference Don Hall's Guest House shuttle to the conference One caveat. There is a parking garage attached to the convention center, but it pre-dates the convention center by a lot, and to my knowledge there is no entrance for high-profile vehicles. If you drive a high-profile vehicle and have no other vehicle available to you, I suggest you avoid staying at the Hilton UNLESS you will be allowed to park at the Holiday Inn downtown while you stay at the Hilton. If you do that, don't do the walk alone at night. If you stay north but want to attend Moon-light Madness, go back to the hotel on the shuttle, retrieve your vehicle and go back downtown to the library. The newspaper I work for will be covering the conference extensively, and one of our columnists is the banquet speaker.
