Hi, I just received the birth certificate for my great grandfather Melville E. Powley. He was born in Chebanse Ill. February 2, 1876 to George Henry Powley and Matilda Guptal. The birth certificate was applied for in 1941, with his aunt(Margaret Larson) to witness. I have been unable to find any information on Matilda Guptal, and have even tried different spellings i.e.. Guptil, Guptill. If these names sound familiar to anyone please contact me. He was Matilda's first and only child, I know that she died when Melville was young and his father remarried. Any information on idea's or where to find some more information would be great. Thanks, Margaret
