They met and married in Quebec, but emigrated to Illinois where they lived and raised most of their children. They lived in Kankakee County (Aurora....and St. George?) in the 1850's and 1860's. Any help appreciated, especially on their parentage! Thanks, Tracie (Gennette) Kinghorn >> You mention Aurora in your query which makes me wonder if you have checked Kansas yet. I looked in a few local (Kankakee Co.) but did not see an entry for these Guennette people. I do not have a St. George book, but did look in Bourbonnais's Catholic Church death record book. The parish at Bourbonnais was the "mother" of St. George Church 10 miles away. Since you also mentioned Aurora, I thought you may need some hint to where to look. I looked in some parish records from St. Peter's in Aurora Kansas and found a few things: Death record, Stephen Guenette s/o Antoine Guenette and Marguerite Boudreau, husband of Exilia Gagnon, died 18 May 1937, Aurora, age 80 y 7 m Noel Gennette s/o Antoine Joseph Gennette & Marguerite Boudreau husband of Josephine Breault died 21 Dec 1943 , Zurich, KS, age 81 yrs. There are numerous entries for baptisms and a few marriage records for these two couples in the book too. It seems that at least a couple of Antoine and Marguerite's children raised their families in Aurora Kansas. Also, I found a Marguerite Gennette buried at St. Joseph Kansas died 21 Jun 1902 age 79 y 3 m 5 d. Could this be Marguerite Boudreau? In Illinois, I found a transcribed census of 1860 which may be your family: BOURONNAIS TWP. KANKAKEE CO. HOUSE #2651, FAMILY #2546 NAME SEX AGE PLACE OF BIRTH GAUNET, A. M 40 CANADA , MARGARET F 38 " , DELADE F 17 " , MARGARET F 15 N.Y. , ANTOINE M 13 " , JOSEPHINE F 10 ILL. , ISAAC M 8 " , LIZZIE F 6 " , ETTINE M 4 " , SUPLEAN M 2 " , FERDINAND M 1/12 " Hope this helps you in your search.
