    2. Dorothy Huntley
    3. I am looking for information on George W. HUNDLEY, son of Nehemiah S. HUNDLEY, b. 3 March 1862 in Kane County, Illinois. I would like to know who he married (I think it was Christina Jacobson, widow, in Huron, Dakota Territory in 1885). I would like to know where and when he died. I can trace my husband's line back to a George W. HUNDLEY, born in Illinois and married to Christina. Now I would like to connect Nehemiah's George to mine. But I'm hitting a brick wall coming from both directions. Nehemiah's wife and children moved to Delware, Iowa after he died in 1862. His widow remarried to a John SCHALK. My George had a sister Ella V. and father, Stafleton (sp? could be Stapleton) and had family in Kansas in the late 1800s. Nehemiah's George had a sister Ellen O. and father Nehemiah Stapleton. If I could trace Nehemiah's George through to Dakota Territory, and . . . find his date of death and place of burial, I would claim a major victory! Thanks for any help or hints. 3. It's French, allright...literally, it translates into "The Maple". I'm no French speaker, but I have spent nearly three years in Quebec. There's lots of good maple syrup there!! I can't begin to describe in words how to pronounce it, but I've heard it many times. One child was born there, Hattie Scott, b. Feb. 1861. ALD married a Nancy Dewey, b. 1830 in Indiana. After the Civil War, he and family moved to Cherokee County, Kansas. I don't have any info on his parent's except a possible initial of "B.A." Scott. If any of this is familiar to anyone, please contact me. Thanks, Randy Scott

I assume that your reference to Philomene was to Philomene Beland who was the daughter of Theodore Beland and Euphrosine Martin. In my file, I have a copy of the proof of heirship in the Estate of Antoine Beland who died on 20 Dec 1924. Included in his heirs, ie his brothers and sisters, were the descendants of Philomene Barland, deceased, her children: Rose Smith, Mary Legeault, Arthur Barland, Louise Gauthleir, Peter Barland, Sarah Proulx and Exilda Daniels. Theodore Beland was my gggrandfather and I have Beland information from Iroquois County as well as Canada if you are interested. Byron Wallace in Lehigh Acres FL.

    3. John: First, the proper spelling is L'Erable in Iroquois County. I am forwarding your question to the ILFORD mailing list, which covers questions with respect to Ford, Iroquois and Kankakee Counties. Also receiving your message is Deb LaFine. If you like, she can include your question in the Iroquois County queries. BUT you might want to contact the Iroquois County Genealogical Society for a lookup in the marriage and birth records for the county. Their fees for lookups and for copies are quite reasonable. They are on the Internet at the last URL given in my signature lines below. Their policies are clearly stated. john gauthier wrote: > I have found a family that I may be interested in, in Learable, Iroquoise, > Ill. The surname is Beland or Barland, or Borland. 3. Hi all, I'm researching the MUELLERs of Iroquois County. Specifically George MULLER/MUELLER (1861-1915) of Gilman (approx 1891-1898) then Watseka (1900-1915.) He owned the Mueller Monument Works in Watseka, which is now run by the fourth generation of Muellers. George and Margaret (Margarettra) KIRCHNER (12/21/1868-2/4/1960) were married in Gilman, IL July 28, 1891. They had three children: George (Feb. 1892-1/11/1901), Carl Louis (4/1/1895-4/8/1982), and my grandfather, Ernest William ("Ernie") (7/29/1899-1/6/1988), who later became mayor of Watseka. It seems that George emigrated from Baden, Germany in about 1890 and Margaret emigrated from Vockenroth Baden about the same time, but I don't have any details. Other family members may have emigrated to the area, too, since nephews and nieces are mentioned in Margaret's obituary, but I don't have any information yet. Anyone out there have KIRCHNERS or MUELLERS who might be related? Many family documents and photos were discarded in the 1980's after the death of several family members, so I am particularly interested in photos, documents, etc., if anyone comes across them. I'm willing to pay a reasonable amount for these items if they are found. At the time, they were believed to be the only surviving fragments.(26) In 1953, however, the Archives accessioned an additional set of fragments. These sets of extant fragments are from Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, South Dakota, Texas, and the District of Columbia and have been microfilmed as National Archives Microfilm Publication M407 (3 rolls).
