    1. [ILFORD-L] re ROSE MAY ESTHER TALLMAN (nee KINSEY)
    2. John Finlayson
    3. I am researching my KINSEY family tree and would be grateful for your help. My Great-Grandmother's sister, ROSE MAY ESTHER TALLMAN (nee KINSEY) died suddenly whilst visiting London, England on 29th August 1954. She was cremated and her ashes flown back to the USA. I have a copy of her Last Will and Testament for which the City National Bank of Kankakee acted as executors. She bequeathed the income from her estate to a Trust known as "Tallman's Boys Fund" for the care of dependant, delinquent or homeless boys. The Circuit Court of Kankakee County was to have jurisdiction over the trust property. I should be grateful to know if the trust still exists and whether there are any reports available as to its work over the years. I wrote to the Bank without success. Any help would be gratefully received. From: john@finlayson2.freeserve.co.uk

We are looking for someone in Ford Cty. that would be willing to do some look ups for a fee. We are searching to see if our GGrandparents owned land there. If so, would like copy of deed when they purchased and when they sold. Also, we've never found a marriage record, they said they were married in LaSalle Cty. on 1/1/1876, but from experience, that may be incorrect. Also, any birth information on their children. We know they moved to Ford Cty. in 1878-79 and lived there until 1886 when they moved to Nebraska. His name, Gottlieb Steinke (might have used the name Samual), married to Auguste Dumke. First child Fredrick William Steinke born 7/30/1877 in Thawville. Edward Gottlieb Steinke born Oct. 1878, Laura Marie Steinke born 10/20/1879 and christened at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Melvin, Minnie Augusta Steinke born 6/14/1882, Amelia Willimina Steinke born 9/13/1885 then 2 other daughters born in Nebraska. If anyone would be willing to do these look ups, please contact me. Dee Schnell DSchn93119@aol.com --part1_7e.e04134.25d1e016_boundary--

    1. [ILFORD-L] Census 2000 boycott tried
    2. Loretta Krumwiede Barlow
    3. The Libertarian Party is trying to start a boycott of Census 2000 because of some of the questions on the long form. First, watch your newspapers for an Op-Ed by Steve Dashbach (sp?). We declined to publish it, but it's out there. Be aware that he mis-quotes the questions to make them sound intrusive. I pointed out to his press secretary, George Getz, that the question is not asked in nearly the format given in the editorial. Anyway, to familiarize yourself with the long form for Census 2000, go to http://www.census.gov/dmd/www/pdf/d-61b.pdf Study it, print it off to familiarize yourself with it, and if Steve's editorial shows up in your newspaper, you will be prepared. I do agree that the long form asks some seemingly strange questions. Before going off half-cocked, ask yourself why the government would want that information. The ones to which Dashbach objects have to do with determining the size of the population over age 16 who are significanlty impaired and will probably require assistance in the future. He claims the census asks the question "Do you have trouble bathing by yourself?" It does not. The data about bathing difficulties is included in a broader question: Does this person (check as many as apply), and the list following includes "Have difficulty bathing." Big difference. The Libertarian's boycott attempt, of course, is a "head off big government" move, their usual posture with which I genrally agree. But doing it by mis-quoting the census in order to attempt a boycott is unethical, to say the least. Feel free to distribute this message to any list for which it seems appropriate. -- Loretta Iroquois County ILGenWeb Project http://www.rootsweb.com/~iliroquo/ Ford County ILGenWeb Project http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilford/ Iroquois County Genealogical Society http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilicgs/
