I have once again been confronted by a great aunt who insists her great grandmother was a full Cherokee Indian. I, on the other hand, have not found any evidence whatsoever of this. How frustrating. She insists that my Nathaniel Logan Nowlins mother was a full Cherokee indian. I must admit that even to this generation, there are strong resemblances to indian heritage. I have checked the different indian rolls for the name Nowlin and it doesn't appear anywhere. Does the Fayette genealogical society have any information as to an indian census or records of marriage? Perhaps someone has information on Indian marriages with whites of that county. I don't believe this is true, but For my great aunt, I must check it out.
