Charles Franklin Loomis was born in Freeport, Stephenson Co., IL on the 27 of Feb. 1840. He was the second child of Ephraim Harrison Loomis and Mary Ann Daggett who were married in Stephenson Co., in 1836. His brothers and sisters were: Mary Amanda, Orlean Harrison, Loren Arthur, George Washington, David Thomas, Ezra John, Dighton Elisha, and Melissa Isadora who died as a baby. Ephraim Harrison was the son of William Hartman Loomis and Mary Amanda Wilsey. Their other children were: Lucy Marie, Nellie, Harriet, John, Sarah, Cornelus, Esther, Delilah, Serepta, William Wallace and Benjamin Cornal.
