Is anyone working on the Kirk line in Fayette County? Was Nicholas the first Kirk in the County? Nicholas was on the 1830 census on page 5. I found Nicholas Kirk (pg 147)and R. J. Kirk (pg 148)on the 1840 census. No Nicholas on the 1850 census. An Elizabeth Kirk was on the 1850 census living with Joseph B. Kirk. She is 69 and born in SC. Possible widow of Nicholas? Robert and Benjamin are living next door to each other on the 1850 census. Both were born in KY. James is also in the 1850 census. He was born in TN though. These are possible children I have identified for Nicholas or R. J. 1. Rebecca born 12/25/1810 KY d. 4/26/1877. Married Joseph Wright 10/25/1838 FC 2.Robert b. c. 1812 KY m. Elizabeth _________ 3.James b. 7/4/1813 TN d. 4/3/1900 m. Martha Casey 7/20/1843 Margaret Howard Renfro 2/5/1845 and Frances Prater 1/21/1861 4. Elizabeth b. c. 1816 KY d. 1/14/1884 m. Thomas A. Whitten 12/3/1840 FC 5. Joseph B. b. c. 1818 KY m. 4/10/1845 Cynthia Sears FC 6. Mary "Polly" b. c 1820 TN m. Henry Casey 4/5/1842 FC 7. Benjamin b. c. 1825 KY m. Caroline Sears 7/10/1845 FC 8. Tabitha Jane b. c. 1825 KY m. Green Casey 10/24/1843 FC James and Mary "Polly" were not born in KY as were the rest of this generation. Different parents, maybe the R. J. Kirk that was only on the 1840 census? There was also an Alexander and Grandison who married over in Montgomery County. Any relation to the Fayette County Kirks? Thanks for any help. Lynne
