I don't know if he was any part of the MELTON family of Fayette County, but he probably was related. There was a LONNIE MELTON that lived about a mile south of Coffeen on the Red Ball Trail in Montgomery County. He was probably ot the 1860-1880 vintage, as best I remember him. He had one son, but I can't recall his name. The son left the Coffeen area around 60 years ago or so - for where, I have no idea. He is most likely dead now -- if he isn't, he is no doubt into his 90s.
