Cheryl, There were many BURKETT in the Wayne Co, IL area where my grandmother Janie Mae STOGSDILL was born. Her ancestors LEATHERS, MCCORMACK/MCCORMICK, MELTON and MONTGAL/MONICAL came in to. There were some related by marriage to her family I believe. There were also some BURKETT in Macon Co, IL. Beverly, My Needham HELM married Rebecca GARRISON in Wayne County. He was the son of Jesse HELM and Dolly BURKETT. Dolly had a brother named Needham who first married Annis PRUETT, and later married Julia Franklin PRYOR. I think most, if not all, of the family moved on to Marion County though, and some went on to Missouri later on.
