Most, if not all of the Helm families that settled in Fayette County in the 1830s are my line, but I haven't been able to track them much past those married in the 1850s except for my direct line (William Helm - Uriah Helm - Wesley Sylvester Helm - Clarence Sylvester Helm - Lawrence Wesley Helm). The only Norris I have is Rebecca Norris. My information is that she was born either in Ohio or Pennsylvania about 1840. I have a Catherine Helm, daughter of Jacob Helm and Tabitha McDonald, who married Larkin Brown, probably of Fentress or Overton County TN. I have not been successful in identifying his parents. Cheryl, Our middle daughter went to Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, OK in the 1980s. We loved the people there, when we visited her school. My 3rd great-grandmother Sabra Charlotte (ELAM) ELMORE's 2nd husband after great-grandfather Lawrence ELMORE died, was Richard E. BROWN. Sabra married Richard E. BROWN 21 March 1875 Fayette Co, IL. I don't know if she had any children by him. They could have a one or two children. I have wanted to find out though. Richard BROWN died just a couple of years after they married. Richard E. BROWN was born 1839 d. 15 Feb 1877 Fayette Co, IL all three are buried Bethleham/Old Brushy Point Cemetery. There was a widow named Fern BROWN that lived across the field a few miles from us who had older children and younger a son 4 or 5 years older than I. I remmeber grandfather saying the widow Fern BROWN's husband was related to us somehow. He never said how. Maybe thru Sabra's 2nd husband Richard BROWN? I'll ask dad if he knows. My grandparents Ernest William HIMES & Morna Evalene (BESS) and great-grandparents Henry BESS & Sarah Elizabeth (ELMORE) are buried in Browning Cemetery also. Great-grandma Rachel Lee (CHESHIRE) HIMESlived next to the cemetery and donated more land to it in early 1900s. My grandparents lived there later. I remember tiptoeing past the cemetery on the way down to the creek as a child. This was also in my database.
