    1. [ILFAYETT-L] Fayette County to Kansas
    2. Angela, You are correct about the similar geographic paths of our ancestors. Do you know where in Tennessee William Baldwin was born? It appears that they arrived in Fayette county about the same time. Some of the Craigs also returned to Fayette county. Montgomery county borders Wilson county on the south. We need to explore our names further. He moved to Fayette Co., IL, Hurricane Township before 1840?. He was definately there in 1850 in Hurricane. In 1860 he dissappeared from Fayette CO. By 1865 he was back. In 1859 his oldest son Willis Baldwin married Mary Catherine Davidson and moved to Kansas City, MO area and by 1870 he was in Montgomery Co. KS. It seems that our families followed the same migration pattern at the same times. Angela in Oklahoma Slwh40@aol.com wrote: >

    3. Do you know whether William Baldwin had a daughter, Mary A. Baldwin? She married George W. Helm in Fayette County 30 Sept 1864. George was probably the son of William R. Helm and Elizabeth Howard. This HELM line came from from Fentress/Overton and Roane Counties, TN and started migrating to Fayette County IL about 1828. There was a tendency in the early marriages for the HELMs to marry into other Tennessee families, some of which may have migrated from TN at the same time, and others who were already established there.
