Greetings: I am researching several family lines which are from Bond and Fayette Counties. I am descended from Alexander Freeman, born on January 6, 1805, somewhere in Virginia. He married Perlina Simmons (b. Sept. 5 1814) on Feb 16, 1832, and died August 30, 1859 in Bond County, Illinois. He married Perlina Simmons (b. Sept. 5 1814) on Feb 16, 1832. Perlina was the daughter of Charles Simmons. Following Alexander's death, Perlina remarried, to a man named James Rainey. Perlina died in Junction City, KS. My great-great grandfather was their son, Daniel Nelson Freeman, who married Margery Roberts, the daughter of Larkin Roberts and Margery Mayfield. I have more information on these families if anyone is interested. If anyone can help me at all, particularly in determining the parentage of Alexander Freeman, Perlina Simmons, and Margery Mayfield, I would be appreciative. It has recently been suggested to me by a member of the Bond County list that Alexander Freeman may have been the son of Mary Robertson Elam by her first husband Gideon Freeman. Mary's second husband was Daniel Grigg. There are a number of reasons why this theory is attractive, but of course it could be wrong. Any information that anyone might have on the Griggs/Freemans/ and Elams would be helpful indeed. Thank you. Jill
