    1. [ILFAYETT-L] Benefiel Families
    2. Ron & Doris Curry
    3. Hello Cousins, I descended through Sarah Jane b10 Nov 1852 m Sanford Chriss in Pope Township 19 Dec 1869. Have been lurking on this site for a while looking for Fayette County family. I have the Benefiel Book written by Evelyn Stout which only goes back a couple of generations to William Benefiel and Elizabeth Norton. Will do lookups or give you a place to acquire them if you want one. Ron Curry Researching Benefiel, Brown (2), Chriss, Curry, Lotz, Pruitt, Schulte, Stonecipher/Stonecypher from Fayette County

    2. Harold and Judy Lanclos
    3. This person would like some help with the Durbin Family in Fayette CO, about 1900. I do not have any more information to help untangle the Benjamin F. Durbins, so if any of you do, please contact her, or me. She is: "Rene' Wayne" <clipon@lucasco.net Benjamin Franklin Durbin married Amy (White) Grant. They lived in Saint Elmo, Fayette Co., Il when my grandfather, Benjamin Franklin Jr. was born in 1894. Benjamin Jr. married Mary Rosetta Nix of Cape Girardeau, Mo. James Grant died abt 1891 or 1892, and Amy and Benjamin were together abt 1892 and before 1894. * Amy brought 4 sons into the marriage, Clifford b. unknown, Frank b. unknown, Emmett b. Can you tell me anything more about this family, specifically Benjamin? I still have not been able to locate my ggf, Benjamin Franklin Durbin. Nor have I been able to find out if he had brothers and/or sisters, or who his parent's were. Am wondering if this Benjamin might have been the one I'm looking for? 2. Carl & Sherry
    3. If anyone out there gets the Vandalia paper, I was wondering if you could help me. I guess there was a recent article about a cemetery that had been cleaned up by the "residents" of the Correctional Facility. I believe the cemetery may have been in Wilberton Township. Possibilities are Davis or Cheshier- close to the Pryor Cemetery. Any help on this question is much appreciated. I'm hoping to get down there to take pictures later this year. Thanks a lot. sherry smith-stanford

I couldn't see any connection to the Swetlands but, you never know because the spelling is so similar. I really appreciate you sending the info and if you find anything else I would be so glad to have it., I have really had a difficult time trying to find out anything. Thanks again! Taftwanda

    1. [ILFAYETT-L] In Search of . . . GLASPEY
    2. Henry Waters Glaspey and wife, Sarah Thomas Ayars Glaspey were residents of Lafayette County in the late 1800s. They both are buried in the cemetery across the highway from Farina and were members of the 7th Day Baptist Church in Farina. I've visited the town (stayed in nearby Salem) a couple of years ago and wonder if there's a book/pamphlet available on the 7th Day Baptist Church and its history. The building is gone (my sister saw it in the mid-1990s when they passed through) and the plaque in the center of Farinia is quite lengthy, but I'd like more details -- or at least information on the GLASPEY family. Thanks for any help Jeanne K

    1. [ILFAYETT-L] Welch Cemetery -
    2. << I do not have driving directions. I hope someone can help you with that. >> The cemetery is located east of Ramsey, Fayette County, Illinois. If you pull up a map for Ramsey, it should be just East of town -- Find REEDS Methodist Church, then look just to the SE from there. Ramsey is small enough that you should be able to get directions from almost anyone in town. A nice asphalt road heads east from Ramsey and then you would go south at the church. Sorry I cannot be more specific --- Margie in FL.

    3. Janet, Back in the recesses of my cluttered mind behind the cobwebs and the dust I have a vague recollection of Rosa but I will have to do some deep digging to find it. I doubt that I have much information on her but will gladly send you what I have when I come across it. What is your relationship and do you know who rosa's parents were to assist me in my search?
