    1. [ILFAYETT-L] Locating information on a missing person!
    2. Solarize
    3. Hi listers I am once again calling on you for some help and advice. My mother met Fred(maybe Alfred) St. Gelais in Palm Beach County back in 1968-1969. She later became pregnant and then married someone who would care for her and the child. Last she heard about Fred was that he married another woman in Palm Beach County and later moved to Daytona Beach, Fl. He too had a daughter in 1969. My sister is desperately trying to find some information on her birth father(Fred). Mom said that his parents were from Ohio and that Fred was also in the Army before she met him. She said that he was about 25 year's old back in 1968-1969. Does anyone know how I would go about to get the marriage records or even look them up? I have done searches on the Internet for his name and there are no Fred's listed in any of the phone directories online. Please send me whatever advice you might have. I can't get his military records because I am not shure if he is still alive and I don't know his social security number either. He is not listed in the SSI death index too. Thanks for any help, Theresa Please respond to: Solarize@mindspring.com Tmann89414@homestead.com SURNAMES: Mann, Elliott, Prasse, Petaros(Petoros, Petros), Ahacic, Gnatkowski, Sandifer(Sandefur), Kopac(Kopacz) Horvatin, Samuels, Taylor, Keller, Sullender, Barbee, Mobley, Pelham

    3. I've posted on this line in the past but thought there might be some new members out there who might have more info. 1.Daniel Davidson entered land in the same section as Valentine, Lemuel, Micajah and Simeon Pope in 1836. (South Hurricane, section 27) 2. Valentine Pope was married to Elizabeth Davidson. I cannot find Daniel on any subsequent Fayette County census. What happened to him and is he related to Elizabeth? Perhaps a brother? Thanks, Lynne

    3. Hello, Some information I have on Henry Lape. Henry Lape and Margaret Wolf went to Fayette Co., Illinois in 1849 from Fairfield Co., Ohio after the railroad gave them land. They build a log cabin on the land in the Wilberton section. Henry died in July 20, 1851 and the home went to Catherine and after her death in Jan 14, 1868 it went to her son Jeremiah W. Lape. This land is still owned by Forrest Lape children. A new house was builded in 1890. Other Lape's ( David, Henry Jeremiah )talso bought land, all around the Lape farm. 2. Interested in you e-mail that mentioned Mary Ann Shupe. What do you have on the Shupe family. My grandfather was supposedly a Shupe and changed his name. He married a Sidwell from Fayette county. I can not find one thing to connect them or his name change. Would appreciate any help. Donald Edward Shupe (changed to Loverde) married to Viola May Sidwell Shelton.(she was married to Daniel Shelton first.) I am really stumped on this one. His parents names were Francis (?) and Mary Ellen Turner. Thanks, Karen Motschall Haines City, Florida

    3. Can you hear me jumping up & down & screaming? I'm so excited. Thank you, thank you. I had given up on William Chandler. I had thought he might be the husband of Louisa Brandon & my Adelia was his second wife but that was total speculation based on some census figures. I had no knowledge of Louisa Brandon Chandler dying. I had resigned myself to a wall until I remembered I had not checked through this list with others with Fayette Co. connections. I'm so glad I thought of it. I love having a brick wall unexpectantly burst through. I can't wait to share this with my family. My mother especially wanted to find out about the Radcliff & Chandler families since John Radcliff was her grandfather & William Chandler was her great-grandfather. I had given up hope on either of them. Thank you for taking the time to share. I hope your brick wall bursts through soon too. Now I'm going to take my time and go over your message letter by letter. Sincerely, Gwen Brooks Atlanta, GA

    1. [ILFAYETT-L] Lape land purchases in Fayette Co.
    2. Hello, Jerry. Thank you for the response. According to the deed index the Lapes who purchased land were Henry, Samuel, Daniel, Sophia, John W., and Catherine. Dates of purchase ranged from 1851-1874. The Lape family from Ohio moved to Illinois around 1961-2, settled in Marion Co.There Nicholas J. Lape died in 1865. I'm unable to find a burial for him, His wife was Elizabeth Rogers Lape. Since he had nine brothers and sisters( I have no names) I thought perhaps the Fayette Co. Lapes might be related. Any clues? Polly Keller Jones, Seale AL (they eloped from Taylor Co., GA across the state line) I'm descended from Louis Chandler. He was my grandfather. My mother does not know anything about her grandparents Virdia & John Radcliff. Her father Louis ran away from home as a boy and never contacted the family until mid 1980s. We would like to learn more about them. Does anyone know this family? Does anyone know where John (Jack) Radcliff might have been from. Or could anyone access local newpapers to maybe get me a copy of obituaries for my great grandparents? Or any records would be helpful. Thank you for your help. Gwen Brooks Atlanta, GA

More about the Radcliffs in the next post. Adelia remarried to David E. bissonette May 3, 1888 and they had a son Sydney, birthday unknown. Here's Adelia's Obituary passed down in family records, no newspaper named: "Mrs. Adelia Bissonette, 81 years old died Monday morning about three c'clock at her home in Sefton Township of cerebro hemorrhage. The funeral was held in Mt. Carmel Church near her home yesterday morning at 10 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Neisler of Loogootee. Burial was in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. She has eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren, also a living sister, Mrs. Phoebe Gross, and a host of friends wherever she has lived, being a motherly, kind and sympathetic Christian neighbor." ---------------------------- Does anyone know anything about this family and the area they lived in? I'm really wanting to find William Chandler's origins. His marriage record to Lydia unfortunately doesn't list where he came from. If anyone has a tie to William please let me know. And if anyone has anymore information about Milo and Lydia's family, I'd love to hear from you. Sincerely, Gwen Brooks Atlanta, GA
