Penny, I'm sorry. I forgot to ask. Can I access the Genealogical Society Fayette Facts on line? I'm not too familiar with that. Thank you. Theresa
Penny, Thank you. I received an email from another and he told me that Keens was in Clay County, which was surprising. This is the information I received: Keen's Chapel Cemetery is located in Larkinsburg Twp. in Clay County vice Fayette County. The location is just a few miles from the Fayette County line and many of the people buried there lived in Fayette County. I really appreciate your reply. I will look at the information on Kruse. Thanks again, Theresa
Theresa, I spoke with the editor of the Fayette Genealogical Society. She told me that Keen's Chapel Cemetery is across the Fayette County line and located in Clay County, IL You may want to check with Clay County GenWeb Project and Clay County Genealogical Society. The Kruse Family is mentioned in the Genealogical Society publication named Fayette Facts Volume 27 Number 2 p.43-45. Ken, It's a long shot but I had a great aunt Hulda LEONARD b.17 Aug. 1864, m. John SMITH in the 1900s they had a child John " Babe" SMITH m. ? and had one daughter (still living, where about unk.) My decd mother gave me the info that the dau was still alive about the late 1980s. The dau should be in her middle to late 70s or early 80s. I'm sure that I can find more info in Vandalia, next time I'm there to do some research. Does any of this sound familiar? Hi Everyone, I have finally put the Fayette County Cemetery and Tombstone album up online. The hardest part of doing this is that I could not decide how I wanted to do it. Please note that this is only a beginning. Some have already submitted their family tombstone photos and I will get to these as I can. Please note that these pages are slow loading but very much worth the wait. I have listed the Album under cemetery name and the photos are listed under the cemetery of burial and in alphabetical order by surname. I will put more pages up as time will allow and I appreciate your patients in this major project. If you are interested in submitting your Tombstone photos you can e-mail them to me: If you have tomstone photos that you want to share: 1) Scan all photos and save as .JPG format (always save in lowercase letters) I prefer the lastname first then first name when saving the name of photos. 2) Send as an attachment and e-mail to Penny Lewis. 3) Write the actual inscription on the stone in the message. 4) Name Person and the Cemetery or location where burial took place. 5) Transcribe what is on the tombstone. 6) If you have the obituary you may add it as an attachment as well. You may view the index at: (All cemeteries online are linked on the lefthand side of the page) http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilfayett/cemeteries/cemeteryindex.htm Penny Lewis@csuol.com Fayette County, IL GenWeb Project Coordinator Fayette County, IL GenWeb Project http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilfayett/ilfayette.htm The Family of Todd & Penny Lewis http://www.uftree.com/UFT/WebPages/PennyLewis/GENWEB3/index.htm Lilly Family of Sussex County, Virginia http://www.uftree.com/UFT/WebPages/PennyLewis/LILLYFA3/index.htm searching for: **************************************************************************** BAILEY, BARTIMUS, BARTHELEMES, BOEN, CRUM, ENGLAND, FINLEY, GRANFIELD, HOLT, (W)HARTON, LEWIS, LILLY, MELSON, METHAM, PATTERSON, RADCLIFF, SMITH, STOKES, WALKER, WISDOM **************************************************************************** ----- Original Message ----- From: Teresa Davis <teed13@bellsouth.net> To: <ILFAYETT-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, October 07, 2000 2:54 PM Subject: Re: [ILFAYETT-L] Fayette County, IL Cemetery & Tombstone Albums > OOOPS! Anyone out there researching this line? They were in Montgomery and Fayette Counties. Earliest known that I can find is several brothers who migrated from Dickson County, TN. Don't know when they arrived and can't find any land records. Father: Franklin McCaslin born 7/17/1819 in Dickson County, TN Mother: Syrena Tidwell 1819-1862 I have 11 children for this couple. It appears that at least 4 sons migrated to our area and married. It would appear that they arrived in the late 1860's, early 1870's. 1. Alfred A. McCaslin born 1844 Dickson County,TN married Alcinda J. Sherrald 12 December 1869 in Montgomery Co. 2. Benjamin F. McCaslin born 1846 in Dickson County, TN married Lydia Araminda Bolyard 13 December 1887 Fayette County 3. William Trousdale McCaslin born September 10, 1850 Dickson County, TN Died May 12, 1917 Fayette County. Buried in Mt. Carmel Cemetery; married (1) Jane Lovegrove 20 March 1879 Fayette County and (2) Harriet Pope January 14, 1886 Fayette County 4. Sylvester Finley McCaslin born 1854 Dickson County, TN married Louisa Mahaley Donaldson 16 April 1874 Fayette County. The other 7 children were: Louisa C. 1840; Nancy E. 1841; Lucinda J. 1842; Tennesse 1845; James 1852; Serena 1856; John 1859. Thanks, Lynne Evans
Lynn, Did you go to highschool in Vandalia, IL? I went to Browning gradeschool in Shafter Twp then to Vandalia High my first two years before we moved to Maroa, north of Decatur, IL. I have lived in New Mexico 42 years now. POPE was not a line of mine, but they were related distant cousins by marriage thru the WALKER surname to my paternal grandmother Morna Evalene (BESS) HIMES. My ancestors came to the Bond, Fayette and Montgomery Co, IL area early. There were POPE in Fayette, Bond, Montgomery and Shelby Co, IL areas. William Trousdale POPE 1854-1917 married Harriet POPE 1869-1850 was a daughter of William POPE & Deliah (DONALDSON). Harriet married #2 Bradley McCallister DAVIS. There were some MCCASLIN/MCCASLAND in Bond Co, IL. Some of them have LDS descendants. Have you tried the LDS Family History Center in your area?
