If you have a chance to look up my Nathaniel Logan Nowlin, I would appreciate it. I really want to know his siblings and parents. Still can't find proof of anything. Good luck to you. Keep in touch. 3. I need some help in identifying two photos. My father passed away in July and while going through his papers my mother came across two photos we can't identify. My guess is that they were taken between 1925 and 1948. I believe they are connected to my great-grandmother Bernice Jane Cook Vandermark Ley and that she is actually in one of them. I'm not sure but believe the others in the photo could be related to her second husband Frank Ley. She died at Vandailia and he died at Hagarstown - both in 1948. If you could take a look at the address below, I have place them on the web for viewing. Anyone with any information about the persons in the photos or the names listed on the envelope, please contact me. I'll be glad to have copies made for anyone who finds a connection. Thanks, Jim VanDerMark [email protected] The photos are located @ http://members.tripod.com/~JDVanDerMark/Whoisit.htm

    3. I'm grasping at straws again in my search for the Cameron family. Joseph CAMERON, (b.Aug.1810, PA) married Sallie HINDS/HINES, (b. 1811, PA.) in about 1830 in Pennsylvania. Their first child William, was born in PA about 1831. There is a Catherine HINES, age 18, b.PA, living with Joseph Cameron and his family in 1850 in Illinois. Also in Fayette County, 1850 is the family of George HINDS, (b.1813,PA) and his wife Catherine, (b. 1816/17 PA) which would make her a good candidate to be the sister of Joseph and Daniel Cameron (b.1812,PA), except that her name is given as SCHWARM/SCWAN in the marriage records of their children, and there is a marriage record in Stark Co.,Ohio for a George HINE and Catherine SWAN on 21 Nov. 1835. So my straw is the possibility that Catherine SCHWAN could be her name from a first marriage. Is there any way to tell this from the Ohio records? Does anyone have access to PA marriage records who would be willing to look for HINE/HIND marriages and/or SWAN/SCHWAM/SCHWARM? George HINES and family remained in Fayette County, and had children: Caroline, John, George, Henry, Mary Ann, Jacob, Barney, Catherine, Nancy and Eli. Any suggestions, corrections, or help will be appreciated. Judy Cameron Lanclos Highland, CA My apologies if you receive multiple copies of this- I don't know if the two groups overlap.

    3. CIVIL WAR PROJECT STATE ARCHIVES NEED PHOTO'S AND STORIES FOR ALL OF ILLINOIS!! We are trying to extend, and to some degree personalize, the information on the Civil War Rosters. Since many of us had ancestors in the Civil War the Rosters mean more to us than just a list of names, ranks and mustered in/out dates and the location they were living. Many of these men kept diaries, wrote letters home, told stories after the war was over. Illinois was a large contributor to the numbers of men that joined the Union Army for the purpose of Freedom for the Slaves in the South. In some cases the whole adult male population of a given town joined the forces. Some came back whole, some with missing limbs, maimed, or diseased. Some didn't come back at all, to either die on a battle field, or later in the prison camps. They were our Ancestors, and their contribution to the purpose of Freedom deserves mentioning, more than just in a list. So, if you have any stories, handing down, letters, diaries written by any of your ancestors. Please send them to me via e-mail, if possible, or snail mail. 3. Larry, NO, the CW stories I'm heading are for ALL of Illinois! Guess I better re-word that, huh! This is for the IlGenWeb Civil War Project Archives. I won't be putting it in the County pages, but I will link from the county pages, as will others, where applicable. In other words, I will link the soldiers name, in the Civil War Rosters I have up, to the story which will be in the Archives. Others will do the same that have their Civil War Rosters up. I guess that is a bit confussing! Since I'm sending this to the list anyhow, I'll make sure right now that there is no misunderstanding on this. Note to all: The stories and photos of civil war soldiers, that Susan and I are doing, are for ALL counties in Illinois. These are for the Illinois Civil War Project Archives, which covers all of Illinois. Send me what you got Larry....
