Good afternoon all, I have an announcement regarding the Fayette County site in ILGW. Penny Lewis has joined me as Co-Coordinator. I have to give credit to her for the new look on the main page. Go take a look, I think you will like it too! Certainly more informative than the other. Penny is the new Co-Coordinator for Fayette County, and the person that did up the new main page. Penny is not going to be doing lookups, her hands are pretty full with being a full time mother, and she'll be pretty busy with some of the new ideas for Fayette County site. Go see the new look! http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilfayett/ilfayette.htm Terry
On the subject of "lookups", please go to the copyright page at http://www.usgenweb.net/volunteers/copyright.html As it turns out (and I hope this means it's because I'm doing my job) no one has complained to me about my lists, or the counties I host. There has been very little problem in any of my mail lists - of any kind - any problems were taken care of easily mostly because of cooperation from all the subscribers. This is a very important issue, and please need your cooperation again. Thank you, Teresa (Terry) Davis mail list owner, and CC
Hi Nancy, In your Williams research have you noted the names Nancy Mabry or Malissa Hines? 1850 census shows Nancy Mabry (b. 1803) and husband, Hartwell Hines with dau., Malissa, age 15 (b. 1835). In 1856, Malissa married William Clow and her name on license is Malissa WILLIAMS. Either Nancy or Malissa had a previous marriage to a Williams. It's more likely it would have been Nancy than Malissa, since Nancy was in her 30's when Malissa was born. Thank you Marie Pittman
Penny, Thank you! I'm checking it out now! Angela Penny Lewis wrote: > > Found this site. Hi, I sent this message earlier, but with the wrong subject line. So I'm resending it now with the correct one. sorry about that. I recently created some web pages, and want to let you know that I have quite a bit of information on some of the German families in Fayette County, Wilberton township, especially SASSE, SCHUKAR, FELLWOCK, and OERTWIG and WOLLENSCHLAGER. You can read about them on my site. If you find a connection, I'd love to hear from you. I'm looking for the descendants of Gertrude HELM (d/o Clarence Sylvester HELM and Florence Ellen OLIVER) and Frank 'Mike' PRUETT. I know of one daughter, Frankie, who was already grown by the time Gertie and Mike married. Frankie married Vance GUFFEY, and had at least one child, a daughter named Jeannie. Gertie had a twin sister, Bertha, who married Laren Norvel WHITEHEAD. Cheryl Helm -- "Spelling isn't everything. I'm still trying to track down my Schwarm family in Fayette County, IL. My aunt, Louise HELM (d/o Clarence Sylvester HELM and Florence Ellen OLIVER), married Ervin (Big Moody) SCHWARM probably in the early to mid 1930s. His parents were Arl SCHWARM and Nell ERVIN. As far as I know, three children from this marriage are still living: Herschel (who married Amber <surname unknown>), Bob or Robert, and Arlene. Their two children, 'Little Moody' and Becky both died young. Herschel has a son Brent who practices medicine in Fayette County. Cheryl Helm -- "Spelling isn't everything. Are you related to a BARTIMUS who married a Leone PURDEU? My 2nd great-grandmother Mary Ann FRAZEE was married # 1 to John Barber PURDEU. Leone PURDEU was a daughter of William Henry PURDEU & Mary Eliza BURKHEAD. William Henry PURDEU was a son of Mary Ann & her first husband John Barber PURDEU. My 2nd great-grandfather was Mary Ann's second husband James Charles STOGSDILL. I have my direct ancestry line is in the HIMES line link of our homepage. Hi, I am looking for anyone researching the family of Andrew J. and Mary Susan TAYLOR FREEMAN. Andrew J. FREEMAN was born in December of 1852 in Illinois. I believe that he was the son of James D. And Emily PENDLETON FREEMAN. Mary Susan TAYLOR FREEMAN was born in November of 1852 in Illinois. She was the daughter of Nathan Edward and Martha F. DRAKE TAYLOR. Andrew J. and Mary Susan were married 30 March 1873 in Fayette, Illinois. Their known children are: Nannie S. (B: abt 1875), Wess (B: Jul 1881), Pearl (B: May 1884), and Edward (B: Aug 1888). They were living in Fayette County as of the 1900 census, but I have no further information. I would like to correspond with anyone descended from these people. Thank You, Monica
Angela, Try the Illinois State Archive Databases there is one for the Civil War as well as several other Wars. they have marriage index, Land records, Servitude & Emancipation indexes. I have put the full name in the database and have come up with zero results so Then I would try just the surname and then alot would show up. As a matter of fact the Illinois State Archives just started several new databases. I began searching for Dodge Co. WI info when I was just a kid when writing a biography for my ggrandmother for a Jr. High English class. That was in about 1954. This week I finally found the marriage of my gg-grandparents, the baptism of my ggrandma, etc. There were about a half dozen families that married into each other several times: SASSE, SCHUKAR, FELLWOCK, OERTWIG, SCHWAN.
