    2. Harold and Judy Lanclos
    3. I received a lookup request from a granddaughter of Benjamin Franklin Durbin, born February 13, 1894 in St.Elmo, IL. From her grandfather's death certificate, it appears that his parents were a Benjamin F. Durbin, and Amy? ___. This does not appear to be the Benjamin F. Durbin, son of Morris, husband of Sarah __ Durbin, and of Louisa J. Buckanon (married 11/24/1896), whose family is listed in St.Elmo in the 1870, 1880 and 1900 census records. Or is it? Any Durbin experts who can help sort this out? Thanks, Judy Cameron Lanclos Highland CA

    1. [ILFAYETT-L] Isaac Logue
    2. Harold and Judy Lanclos
    3. I have confused the Isaac Logue family in my records and am having trouble sorting them out. Can any of you help? They were in Loudon Twp, Isaac married Mary A. Horn in 1862. I find a census record in 1870, Isaac Logue age 30 born IL and Matilda age 22 born Il, with children Hester 7, Noah 5 and Jonathan 2. Then in 1880, there's another Isaac Logue (or is it the same one?) age given as 59 born Ohio, with wife Mary A age 32 born Ohio, and children Daniel 15, James 12, Leydra M 10, Benjamin 8, Leonidas 4 and Annie L 4/12 months. Marriage records for Daniel Logue, Enoch T. Logue, and Lydia Logue in Fayette give their parents names as Isaac Logue and Mary Angeline Horn. Where have I crossed the lines? Thanks, Judy Cameron Lanclos

    3. Wanda, and others that may want to join this list, and don't know how. Follow these directions, and you can get the job done. Send a message to IL-CENTRAL-L-request@rootsweb.com (just copy/paste that address into your To: line of your e-mail In the subject line you can put nothing, but if your mail program insists you do something there you can put the word subscribe In the body of your message put the single word SUBSCRIBE (just that word, nothing else). You need to be sure any signature file is 'off'. You do NOT sign the message at all, you do not need to tell it what your name or e-mail addy is....the program is set up so it will take the address from your message header. You will get a notice that your subscribe command has been accepted, and you may begin posting to it, or getting the messages. Now, if you find the L mode is too much, then simply send the UNSUBSCRIBE command in the same manner you did here for the L list. If you wish the Digest mode, just send your message again to IL-CENTRAL-D-request@rootsweb.com following the same steps as you did in the L request. Holler if you have any problems. 1. Fw: [ILFAYETT-L] Death Certificate Help, please
    2. Penny Lewis
    3. Monica, A death certificate is usually issued in the county the death occurred. I visited the Fayette County Courthouse a couple of weeks ago and the County Clerk Office gave me this paper: **************************************************************** FAYETTE COUNTY VITAL AND LAND RECORDS INFORMATION Birth and death records: Our birth and death records begin in 1877, and are"few and far between" before 1916, when it became a law for the local register (then the township/municipality clerk to record the birth and death certificates occurring in their entity with the county clerk of their county and the State of Illinois Department of Health ( Vital Records division) in Springfield, Illinois. Marriage records: Fayette County's marriage records begin in 1821. From 1821 to 1878 these records only show the groom's name and bride's name, date of marriage and who performed the marriage. beginning in 1878 the marriage record will give more information. . . ages at time of marriage, birth places, names of parents, etc. The charge for each search of EACH of the above vital records in the county clerk's office is $5.00 and if the record is found, we will send you a certified copy of same. We do need an approximate date of the birth, death or marriage record requested. The search we make will cover a 20 year period. . . 10 years before the approximate date and 10 years after. We are not staffed to do genealogical research and especially around election time (in the spring and in the fall of each year), we do not have the time to do same. We get to the requests as soon as possible. Fayette County does have an excellent and active Genealogical Society and some of the members will do research of "Family trees". You may contact them at the following address: Fayette County Genealogical Society P.O. Box 177 Vandalia, IL 62471 Land Records: Fayette County's land records begin I 1821 and are indexed by Grantor (Seller) and Grantee (Buyer). We DO NOT HAVE a tract index. Again we will need an approximate date for a 20 year search. The charge for each search of land records is $5.00 and you will receive a copy of deed or land transaction as requested. Probate Records: Wills, estate records, etc. begin in 1834 and are located in the Office of the Circuit Clerk . . .the Address is: Marsha Wodtka Circuit Clerk- Fayette County 221 S. Seventh St. Vandalia, IL 62471 Census Records: Fayette county does NOT have Census Records. Thank you, Isabelle B. Brandt County Clerk and Recorder-Fayette County P.O. Box 401 Vandalia, IL 62471 **************************************************************** Hope this helps you. Good luck in your search, To obtain Fayette County Vital records especially vital records before 1916, write and mail check to: Isabelle B. Brandt County Clerk and Recorder-Fayette County P.O. 2. Hi, I have a few questions for those of you familiar with obtaining a copy of a death certificate in the Fayette area. I have 2 ancestors for whom I would like to obtain death certificates. The first died 5 Jun 1905 while visiting friends in Bangor, California. He actually lived in Fayette, Illinois with his daughter's family, and was buried in the McInturff Cemetery, which I believe is in Fayette County. There is an obituary in the Vandalia papers. Would he have a death certificate? If so, would it be issued in IL or CA? The other ancestor died sometime between June of 1905 and the 1910 census. In 1900 he was living in Fayette with his daughter and her family. Did Fayette issue death certificates in this time period? Where would I write to obtain a death certificate of his? What information would it contain? I appreciate any information and suggestions. Thanks, Monica

    3. Dear Nancy, I have Thomas F. Williams (whom we always called "Uncle Bud") born 22 October 1869. I believe his father was also Thomas F. Williams---The last child of Uncle Bud and Aunt Tillie (Hill) Williams was given the name August. Nancy, can you tell me if Thomas F. (Sr) and your Augustus Williams are of the same family? And if so, I will surely appreciate a copy of the pension records. Do you remember the western singer "Tex" Williams? Tex is a son of Uncle Bud and Aunt Tillie (Hill) Williams---Nola (Hill) Ochs in KS. nj shepherdson wrote: > Hi all-- > > I just received the Civil War pension records of my great-great grandfather > Augustus WILLIAMS. 3. LOL...way to go girl! Promote those boards! I'm going to do an open letter to the researchers......don't want to have to put those boards as "Read only". Right now I can't anyway. Going to see if Cathy might want to just let us take the boards. 3. Dear nj, In my Fayette County, IL HILL line, I have Tillie Sharp HILL (b. 24 May 1875 d. 29 December 1929) married Thomas W. "Bud" Williams (b. 22 October 1869 d. 20 April 1954). May I ask if our Uncle Bud Williams might be a son of your Augustus Williams? Their 14th child was named August. Thanks, Nola in KS. nj shepherdson wrote: > Hi all-- > > I just received the Civil War pension records of my great-great grandfather > Augustus WILLIAMS.
