Does Effingham have city directories for the 1890's? I am continuing my quest to find my Great Grandfather, Elmer E. GAST. My Grandmother was born in Effingham in October 1891. So, I am looking for Elmer and Esther Gast to be there throughout most of the 1890's. They might be living with the CREAGERs (Esther's family). Elmer and Esther had 3 children born in Effingham. However, I can't find them there in 1900. I need a way to check for them during the years 1890 - 1898. Also, would a city directory have a list of businesses known to be in Effingham in the 1890's? I would like to see a list of business for the city from then. I have several pictures I would like to better understand. One is a group of men who appear to be working together, but it is a posed professional picture. I would like to know if the stamp on the side is the photographer.
