Using the Pre-1916 State Online index, I located a person I was really hoping to get information on. He died in 1903 and the online lists him, with information concerning age, date of death, etc. I was hoping that because it is listed that there is a certificate or a record with always the hope of a little more info. I sent my check in, and got a reply and returned check from the County Clerk, that there is no death record. Is this really true concerning the pre-1916 online records, and if not, anyone out there care to do a county courthouse look-up for me?? Thanks for any help, John
As it happens, I have the Effingham Co. death records at our local FHL...provided that they haven't been sent back to Salt Lake. (They were there on Wednesday but my rental period is just about up and they may have been returned.) If you send me the info, I can look it up on Wed as that is the next day that the Mormon church is open. Otherwise, I'd try ordering the film (# 1010046) from your local Mormon site and checking for yourself.
