    3. At one time there were reprints of the 1883 & 1910 Effingham County History books by the D. A. R. Are those still available, as the Effingham Genealogical & Historical Society do not have those for sale. Where or who can they be purchased at? Thank you, Kate Keller Bourland

    3. Ooops. Sorry. Meant that the cemetery books were available. I'm not aware of any other DAR publications for sale. At any rate, they'd have to contact me to get me to put the info on there, and they haven't. Linda > -----Original Message----- > From: Kate B. 3. Linda, I called Beth Wattelet and she said that the Effingham D.A.R have several each of the books. Also said that she would mail them out. Which is great.... 3. I've seen them from time to time on eBay. And recently there have been CD-ROMs on eBay with digitized versions of these sorts of books, but I haven't checked to see if they have Effingham Co. yet. 1. RE: [ILEFFING-L] books??
    2. Kate, I have both books - is there someone in particular you wanted looked up? I would be more than happy to photocopy some pages for you. I have found that the CD version, while cheaper, is not searchable. Each page is scanned as a picture, not text; thus, you cannot do a search for key words. (This I found out the hard way :~) I got one volume from an antique book seller on the internet, then another on eBay. The one I got on eBay - the 1910 edition, I expected to be a reprint, so you can imagine my delight to find it was an original edition!! Henry Bailey, my uncle, gave sets of the reprints to his brothers and sisters. I have my mother Wilma Bailey's copies, she passing away in January. The 1910 version has a lot more of who married whom, and who their children were in it, whereas the 1880 editions have a lot more of the historical information on the families.
