    3. Lynn, My wife is descended from Cornelius Phifer of Fayette Co. through his daughter Christina (Christy Ann, Chrisitana, etc.). Cornelius married Susan Lindsay Dec. 17, 1828 in Knox Co. OH. Susan was the granddaughter of Lt.Col. Jacob Reed, a Revolutionary War veteran and hero from Philadelphia. Cornelius and Susan bought public domain land in Oct. 1848 in Fayette Co. IL. They moved there with their six children, George, William, Lucinda, Emeline, Rachel and Christina. They had a daughter Mary after they got to Illinois. Susan died in 1878 at age 65 and Cornelius died Mar. 27, 1884 at age 79. They are both buried in the northwest corner of the Mt. Moriah cemetery north of St. Elmo, IL near his daughter Christina (Kristin on the tombstone) and her husband Edwin Hoar. This is all I know about Cornelius Phifer but I would like to know more about his family and ancestors. All I know was that he was from Kentucky.
