I have several relatives who immigrated to Effingham from Germany. I believe they would have been naturalized while living in Effingham (they later moved to Danville, IL). Does anyone know 1)Where to obtain copies of these records (saw a book listed re:Effingham naturalization records for sale by the Effingham Historical Society, anyone know if it's worthwhile?) and 2)Whether the naturalization records themselves carry any useful information in the late 1800's, or whether it's better to look for a declaration of intent).
