I see a lot of older obits that refer to: Rural Route 1, Effingham; Rural Route 2, Effingham; or Rural Route 3, Effingham. Can anyone tell me the more precise locations for these. I believe Rural Route 3, Effingham refers to the Green Creek area. There are similar references for the Dieterich area. Any help there would also be appreciated. Tony
If I remember rightly, Route 1 was east of Effingham, Route 2 was south and west of Effingham, and Route 3 was north of Effingham. But that was a looooooooong time ago for me <g> Linda "All incoming and outgoing email is scanned by Norton's Anti-Virus, updated daily". -----Original Message----- From: Tony Mammoser [mailto:AMammoser@comcast.net] Sent: Friday, September 17, 2004 8:32 AM To: ILEFFING-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [ILEFFING-L] Rural Route I see a lot of older obits that refer to: Rural Route 1, Effingham; Rural Route 2, Effingham; or Rural Route 3, Effingham. Tony.....another suggestion/thought. Why don't you call the post offices in Dieterich and in Effingham and see what they say? They should have records of the evolution of the mailing addresses. Dieterich Rural Route 1 went south from Dieterich about 8-10 miles and west into Lucas township. Rural Route 2 went from Dieterich to the Elliottstown area and west into Union township.
