My father was raised and lived all his life in Effingham County but was buried in Sigel because that is where we attended church. ** my father was raised very near this church and cemetery where our ancestors are buried and in early 1930's -- two boys ( name withheld) were to clean the weeds and grasses out of the cemetery and tried to take a short cut and decided to burn off the weeds and grasses and start a fire that resulted in wooden tombstone markers to be burn as well. So I believe there are several unmark graves. And best to contact church for information. I do not address to this church. St. Mary Help of Christains Church, (Green Creek / Maryville) Douglas Township, Effingham Co. IL started in 1860 to present day.
