I don't know what's happening in the past few weeks, but I'm not pleased and am going to check on it and do my very best to stop it. For example, I have received several off-topic postings including something about the sale of plates, a query about wanting to be part of a "discussion" group (as opposed to this mail list) and a lot of spam. This is not the purpose of this mail list. All commercial endeavors are prohibited on this list. I will not hesitate to remove any party from the list who tries to pursue any activity other than Effingham County genealogy and activities related thereto. On a much more pleasant note, I now have a new computer that should help me with the Effingham County page. As a matter of fact, I just added a list of town name changes and "ghost towns" (even though some people may still live there) from Effingham County. The concept of "ghost town" for this purpose may mean that even though people still live in the area, there is no active business district anymore. There are two new publications for sale by the Effingham Genealogical and Historical Society and I am waiting for information so that I can add them to the publication list. If you have any questions or suggestions for the page, let me know, but please keep in mind that I am not a computer genius, so please keep it simple <grin>..... Linda
