I have more detailed information on my half-grand uncle, John Starling Hensley, if anyone would care to contact me on it. Melody FUNERAL HELD SUNDAY The funeral service for Mr. Hensley was held Sunday at 2:00 p. m. A short service was held at the home by Rev. Glen Sharp, pastor of the Mason M. E. Church, after which the funeral cortege went to the church in Mason, where Rev. Sharp delivered the discourse, taking his text from Phil. 1:21. Attorney Geo. I. Danks, of Edge- wood, read the above spendidly writ- ten life sketch, before the sermon, and following the sermon Neighbor C. E. Mesnard gave the ritualistic burial ceremony of the Modern Woodsmen of America. This was given in the church instead of at the cemetery, as is the usual custom, in order to avoid exposure of the family and friends in the open air. The choir sang, Does Jesus Care, When They Ring The Golden Bells and Sometime Well Understand, with Mrs. Maggie Leith presiding at the piano. The flower bearers were the six little grandchildren of the deceased, assisted by several women. The pall bearers, members of the M. W. A. were: Clifford Parks, Harry Dean Cornwell, Randall Martin, Vic- tor Robertson, Clare Ruffner and Charles Kincaid. Interment followed in the Mason cemetery. As stated in the sketch, Mt. Hens- ley was supervisor of his township and his associates showed their re- spect by their presence at the funeral. Every member of the board, including the chairman, F. M. Michaelree, were present at the funeral. They also sent two beautiful floral pieces. The crowd at the church was very large, filling the church and balcony and many were standing. There were also a large number of people stand- ing on the outside. Thus, Effingham county has lost another good citizen and an honest, conscientious man. ******************************************************* _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
