Ok....some of you wanted suggestions on how to strengthen the Effingham County GenWeb site. Here's my take on the matter.... I've asked and asked and asked (till I'm blue in the face) for you guys to let me know about family reunions, class reunions, wedding anniversaries, special occasions, etc. so that I can post them on the list. This includes town centennials, church centennials, anything that will bring people from far and near back to Effingham County. You'd be surprised how many lost cuzzies you can find that way. So....even if you live in heck's back acres, if you know of a family doings in Effingham County, PLEASE let me know. I'll be glad to put them on the site. We need to do much more of this, but I can't do it without your help. I get a lot of upcoming reunions out of the T-Town Press, but I don't get any other papers from Effingham County. I'm purposely not putting a lot of things on the site because I have a working agreement with the Effingham County Genealogical and Historical Society that I will not put anything on the site that they have available for sale. This includes census records, war records, etc. This arrangement has worked well in the past and I will not violate that agreement. In fact, I have a list of changes that I need to do asap (I thought I'd say that before Eleanor reminded me <grin>). There are sites at the state level that have this information and the information is expanded and updated regularly. I prefer to link to these sites (which I have done) as opposed to putting them on the Effingham County page itself. And...I like the idea of strong-arming my relatives. Tom and Doc!!!! Watch out!
