    3. Hello John, This is Mary, your cousin on the Martin side. Did you ever get with your uncle and check out the old cemetery where we think John Martin and his family (wife) may be buried. BRUNER Carla, Thanks alot for the Bruner info. My problem is that I cannot definitely connect my John H. Bruner to any other brothers, sisters or his parents for that matter. He was born in about 1823 in Hawkins County, TN according to his Civil War enlistment papers into Company C, 49th Indiana Volunteer Infantry. This unit was made up of volunteers from southern IN, especially, Harrison and Floyd Counties. John married Cynthia Ann Avery in Louisville, KY 4-22-1846 and they are listed in the 1850 U.S. Census in Harrison County. John H. Bruner died on 1-18-1862 at Bardstown, KY according to Cynthia's widow's pension papers. The children between them are: Isaac H. Bruner nee 10-29-1849 in Harison County, IN no further information is known. Mary Jane Bruner (my gggrandmother) nee 8-11-1851 in Harrison County, IN she married: 1) John Wise and 2) William A. Montgomery both marriages were performed in Effingham County, IL. Susan A. Bruner nee 12-12-1855 in Harrison County, IN. She married 1) Judge A. Bryant, 2) Isaac O. Barlow and 3) Samuel Snead. Joseph M. Bruner nee 12-22-1857 in Harrison County, IN. He married a Mary Jo ?? and nothing further is know about this family. Nancy Caroline Bruner nee 12-13-1860 in Harrison, County, IN. She married a Wiley K. Bly. The widow, Cynthia and her children went to Effingham County, IL in the mid to late 1860s. The Bruner children all seem to have disappeared, including Mary Jane Bruner Wise Montgomery who supposedly moved back to Harrison County, IN (according to Cynthia's widow's pension papers) with her mother. Both Mary Jane and Cynthia are believed to have died in Harrison County, IN in the mid to late 1870s, but I could never find a reliable record of their deaths, tombstones, or graves. Any help is most appreciated. John S. Raschke
