Hello fellow listers!! I'm brand-new to the Effingham list. So first, a question before I get into my family lines. Who should one write or email to ask about the possibility of finding obits from the 1960's and forward? Now to my family. I am looking for any information, descendants, etc., of the family of Zera C. Browning. Zera married Amanda ?? (I think it's Amanda....the census is so very faint) in Cumberland Co. but moved to Effingham Co between 1880-1900. He and Amanda had one son, Daniel Edward, b. 10 May 1865 in Cumberland Co. Daniel married Rebecca C. (??) c1887 and they had the following children: i. Charles Elmer, b. Apr 1888 ii. Bertha Nevada, b. Jul 1889 iii. Nellie Leota, b. Jun 1892 iv. John Henry, Sep 1893 v. unknown, b. c1895 vi. Dessie May, b. Jul 1887 vii. Minor St. Clair (male), b. Mar 1900 I am given to understand that at least two of these children lived and died in or around Montrose/Effingham. Minor died in Oct 1975 in Effingham and Charles Elmer died in 1968 in Montrose. According to the SS Death index, a woman named Vivian Browning died in Effingham in Jan 1995, but I don't know how she's related exactly either. I would love to correspond with anyone researching this family, or with anyone who could give me the slightest tidbit of information.
